"I had no idea you were returning to contests, let alone here in Sinnoh!" she gushes. "You're the first to register, too. You must be eager to win your next Ribbon Cup!"
"That's right! We're both hoping to make it to the Grand Festival, right, Kipper?"
Her gaze swings around to Kipper, an odd look crossing her face. "Really?" she asks. "Well.I'm sure you'll both do great here in Floraroma."
"Thanks," Kipper mutters. Beside him, Hayate smiles widely, watching her duck down to prepare their passes for them.
"Best of luck!" she chirps as she sends them off, her affect all sunny admiration again. "I'll be rooting for you!"
The words are clearly directed at Hayate, but as they leave the hall, he turns to Kipper with the same smile he wore in response to the clerk's compliments.

Their watching the sunrise, out of view, with the vibrant morning sun casting strong shadows over each. Dawn is stretching her arms behind her head, and she's wearing the Typhlosion clothing. Her hair is pulled into the curly style. Dumbrock has no nuclear family roles and assigning them to the characters goes against the point. Raimiku *would* use mommy/daddy as a sex thing though, that's different

The hot chocolate is a balm on more than her weary body - though she is eternally grateful for that as well. The fire crystals she loaded her coat with do naught against the wind, so any warmth they might have blessed her with is stolen or weakened. Unable to regulate her own internal temperature, the combination is a recipe for disaster.

Thankfully, Haurchefant has brought her the exact cure.

anyway my yaoi agenda lately has been this ridiculous 12k words and still going fic about kipper and hayate’s first contestTM after kipper’s grand festival crashout. which is supposed to be for whumptober day 5 but will be done tomorrow? idk

"I thought it was interesting how this plant seemed to be whispering," she says with a chuckle. "You know, I wasn't sure I could trust a complete stranger's mention on Chatotter, but my gut told me there's no way someone would lie to me about seeing the two of you around, and especially not together!" Suddenly, she brandishes a notepad and pen, beaming widely. "Care to chat for a bit?"
"Oh, no, we're turning in for the night actually," Hayate tells her apologetically. "You know, I don't really give very good interviews if it's too close to bedtime..."
"Who does?" Olly asks agreeably. "But, you know, it would just be a short discussion... What do you say, Kipper?"
Kipper's hand clenches Hayate's so hard that Hayate lets out a small yelpa fact that does not escape Olly's notice, as she leans down a bit to get a closer look at them, tilting her head curiously.
"You two seem to be closer than ever. Don't you want to share a bit about how that happened? It's a good chance to quell all those nasty rumours that have been going around all year long once and for all!"
"I already told you no," Kipper mutters. With some effort, he drops his hold on Hayate, who glances his way in concern.
"Over a year ago! A lot can happen in that time." Olly winks at him. "But I can appreciate that when someone would rather hide behind a plant than talk to me, they're probably not going to give me much to work with, so I'll cut my losses for tonight. Though I'm dying to know...is it true you both entered the Floraroma Contest?"
"Is this on or off the record?" Kipper asks warily.

She smiles. It is an oddly sympathetic expression. "You can't keep something like that off the record, you know that, right?"
"I... Yeah. I know that."
"Well, I won't go posting it all over social media tonight, if that's what you're concerned about. I do still want to get the first scoop on where you've been this past year, you know! I can't be luring other journalists here before l've gotten my story."
Hayate glances over at Kipper, and then faces Olly again and tells her sincerely, "I don't think that's really any of your business, Miss Penner."
Kipper's chest tightens. "It's okay, Hayate," he says softly.
Then, to Olly: "Yeah, we entered the contest."
"It's good to see you both back in it," she says with a smile that Kipper can only imagine she thinks is sincere. "I'll let you get your beauty rest and maybe we could reconvene in the morning, hmm?"
With that, she finally turns away from them. Once she has disappeared from view, Kipper slumps back against the pot.
"Sorry," he says. "I just — I don't want to talk to anyone."
"Kip...are you sure you're ready for this?"
Kipper's head snaps up again, his stomach twisting in painful knots. "W-what? Of course I am!"
"There will be a lot of people," Hayate points out. "We came here because it'd be quiet now, but it'll be a lot busier by the end of the day tomorrow."
"I-I know that!"
"It's just..." Hayate raps his knuckles against the pot, shooting Kipper a sympathetic smile. "There isn't always going to be a plant to hide behind."
