Being trusted with that responsibility is more meaningful to me than anything else. It's validation that I've accumulated enough knowledge on my own to see all the moving pieces and assemble them without instructions. I'm a builder at heart, and I get the most satisfaction seeing my work being used.

It feels like I'm completing the capstone of my career. I'm finally doing what I set out to do. I never wanted to be some tech billionaire on stage introducing the hottest new tablet, I just wanted to be trusted with the responsibility of building something truly important behind the scenes.

17 years ago this was the kind of thing I set out to do when I dropped out of college. I wanted to build gigantic systems that became the basis for some sort of meaningful work. Today I'm designing multi-million-dollar enterprise data platforms for research hospitals. I'm fucking proud of myself.

Submitted my proposed architecture for our entire data platform to my director, my team, our vendor, network engineers, and cloud engineers for review, and they all approved it with no changes requested. I am now proud to call myself a data architect. I'm actually doing it.

That sounds incredibly fun. I don't understand most of the mechanics you mentioned but you may wind up being the genesis of my latest hyperfixation. I love electronics and engineering projects, even though I don't get to do it enough. Making custom pedals seems like a great way to do that.

Bought the bf a nice new headset and found that Razer's software actively makes the headset sound WORSE unless you install additional software locked behind a registration form. That was the last straw. We wiped his computer and installed Linux. We are officially a Windows-free household.

PSA: If you are using Telegram Desktop, close it and update it IMMEDIATELY. There is a fresh vulnerability that just got published two days ago, and hackers attempted to use it to exfiltrate data from my desktop today. Thankfully my security system blocked it, but most people don't have an IPS.

Built my own router yesterday after my ASUS router declared its intention to spy on me after an update. I'm still using the ASUS router as a wireless access point, but blocked its ability to communicate outside on the new firewall. This fucker tried to phone home more than 300 times while I slept.

100% agree with this, but I'll add a caveat: That person who I don't want to fuck needs to not be a sex pest. It goes both ways. I have plenty of friends that I have no sexual interest in. However, a lot of people dry beg after it's been made clear that I'm not reciprocating, and it's not cute.
