Hi everyone! Just an announcement, the app will no longer be called Navyfragen, the new name is Kodamachi! It comes with a fresh cleaner design (and some new art, which is TBD). For people who want to fork the code, I've removed almost all instances of the old hard coded name.

The NGL app is spyware. It tracks your friends. The app asks you to pay 10 dollars a month for "games." Even the interface looks like it was made 15 years ago for iOS 2.0 You don't have to use it. You can use the AT Protocol native platform that's open source and 100% free from spyware. #atproto

Updates are paused for a bit while I wait for Bun 1.4 to release hopefully this week! Since Bun 1.4 is a massive rewrite of the entire runtime to Rust I'm wary of regressions so I'm spending some time testing with the Canary!

This reminds me of an idea I originally scrapped but its probably time to bring it back. I'll be reworking the architecture of the image generation so its more reliable and asynchronous. Not something I can tackle today but a bigger long term project!

Node is gone the backend! It's all bun now! Unfortunately the FE still runs on node (no way around that) but the BE and all the developer tooling is Bun!

Hey everyone! The server code been running on Bun for a week or so silently while I monitored, and its been good, so I've decided to yeet Node almost entirely and use Bun! Node stays for ATProto compatibility but its a good step! I've also merged in some Anubis fixes too! #atproto #webdev

Upon further investigation some type stuff in a kysely bump caused the backend to crash luckily railway didn't deploy the broken build so it didn't break the app entirely. Thank you modern CI/CD practices! I love being a good SWE!

Merged in some package updates which seemed to pass all the CI/CD checks but kinda failed on end-to-end tests. Let me know if youre running into issues with the app, but from my testing everything seems to be okay!

The backend now uses the host of your PDS to determine where to route your request. Eurosky users will be routed to the EU hosted service. The app should be fast for all Eurosky users. I'll be posting a technical explanation once it's finalised! #atproto #dev #infra #eurosky
