Social Science You Can Use: The Case for Climate Action

This year’s #ClimateWeek proceedings in NYC were all about finding ways to implement climate solutions. That goal is at the heart of our environmental research. Through our work, we’ve advanced a number of strategies for speeding up the process by which scientific knowledge becomes climate action.

(1) To what extent does Glaze yield the effects observed from art therapy? (2) To what extent does Glaze yield better outcomes than non-digital art therapy programs? (3) To what extent can the above findings be attributed to specific design optimizations of the Glaze app itself?
A drawing of a painter's easel, with the words "Assessing the Effectiveness of the Glaze App in Therapeutic Contexts" written on top. The easel lists 3 questions:

1. To what extent does Glaze yield the effects observed from art therapy?

2. To what extent does Glaze yield better outcomes (in terms of motivation and mental / physical health) than physical (i.e., non-digital) are therapy and "art on prescription" programs?

3. To what extent can the above findings be attributed to specific design optimizations of the Glaze app itself (instead of the "lower entry cost" of using digital art platforms)?

2) Creating a space for honest, open reflection (including the gathering of feedback from those who feel neglected or overlooked)

3) Looking at existing data through another lens

4) Providing reassurance, inspiration, and motivational support

5) Helping shape (but not determine!) project goals and intended outcomes

Embedded data collection is one way to center children’s voices in an evaluation. In an embedded framework, evaluation becomes part of program delivery—not something that only happens after a program’s ended. Embedded evaluation gives participants a chance to put the things they’ve learned to use.

What’s the experience of listening to a podcast like? What kinds of mental processes do people go through while listening to an episode of one of their favorite podcasts? Podcast listening tends to be a solitary experience, which makes it hard to answer these questions.
