Congratulations! Friday’s eve is upon you! What a week this has been right?! Well, you have done very well & are almost to the end of your weeks journey. Not much longer to go. So, stay steady & keep your pace. Let’s go! Be careful. Be safe. Be shiny. Be glimmer. Be you to the full. Take no shit.

To live a happier life, you must let go of two things:
- The fear of a bad future.
- The memory of a bad past.

Geez, do the announcers on this baseball game ever shut up? John Smoltz is getting on my last nerve.

Wednesday update: - contractor started removing bad siding this morning. Hope there's not too much that needs to be replaced. - Knitwits was fun! One member brought her DIL, a mah jongg friend came for cable help, I actually got to knit. - SO had an appt with his kidney Dr; next is in April...

All 3 mine figured out lever handles very quickly. One has figured out lever handles for the kitchen water faucets. The smartest cat I ever had (RIP) learned to unlatch screen doors. He never went out, just unlatched them and made sure I knew he did it. He also opened drawers, cabinets, and closets.

Tuesday status: - rainy quiet autumn day - great day at mah jongg! First time ever I won 4 games - watched the rain and knitted, listened to classical music with SO - left front of cardigan has most increases complete - watching baseball while SO zooms a ham radio club meeting - texted with my mom

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 14/10/2026

Autumn rain is so different from summer rain - darker, drearier, colder, and almost unpleasant. It rained almost all day and the temptation to stay home and cuddle with a cat and a book was very strong.

I always thought kids who didn't read or create were weirdos. I'm an introvert, about 2 hours of peopling is all I'm comfortable with on any day. School was hard and so was work - people everywhere, talking and stuff! First weirdo BFF was at 12, and 61 years later we still are, but 2000 miles apart.

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 13/10/2026

We've already had 1 frost, and 60 miles north has had a sprinkling of snow. But tomorrow is supposed to be 70.

Love the color! Looks like the perfect fall layer.

I found it was an acquired taste and I don't always want it or like it - certainly not like the folks in ads who drink 6 packs of Bud or whatever. It makes a great braising liquid for some meats, which is why I usually buy it.

010

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 13/10/2026

I'm not a beer drinker (seriously, I'm not) but I do drink an occasional Guinness and love it. I also use it as the braising liquid for pof roasts, turkey thighs, and other meats for interesting flavor.

My 2nd ex and I used them as quick and easy Halloween costumes on a cruise. Perfect for the season, and they took up space in our luggage. We even won a prize of some sort.

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 13/10/2026

Earlier this year I ripped out 4 sweaters - 1 had been finished for 9 years and never worn, another had been finished and worn a couple of times and I hated it. Love the yarn and it's next up when this one is done.

010

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 13/10/2026

... - tried to make appts and other calls, but offices were closed for the holiday - organized SOs prescriptions for the week - SO helped rip out the sweater and his cat watched but didn't touch - watched football, Nascar, and lots of baseball - Guardians and Brewers are playing good baseball!

Weekend/Holiday update: - finally finished a pair of socks; started maybe 2 years ago - ripped out the whole left side of the cardigan after deciding it would make me happier to do it right than try to fix it - created the Instacart order, put it away - cleaned leftovers out of the fridge ...

Red quilt background with 2 olive/forest green and ivory zigzag design hand-knit socks. Yarn is a very old Opal with no colorway. Knit on size 1 needles, 64 stitches, 12 rows of k2p2 ribbing and a few inches of k7p1 ribbing for the leg, eye of partridge heel, plain foot, round toe. My generic pattern, more or less.

Have to admit I rather love this for her campaign. Just another way to show how out of touch and dumb she and her supporters are. Living in NH, I get political ads from Maine and Massachusetts, as well as NH - very tired of the pettiness.

010

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

My ex bought a fridge that goes online and orders for him, and he loves it, except that it's needed expensive repairs every few months. I think he's nuts, and am eternally grateful we aren't still married AND that he tells me things like this to reinforce that gratefulness.

Why should you give up your Saturday for this? If student has an accommodation wouldn't they be taking the test elsewhere? And if they don't, then it would be unfair to other students. If it's a make-up test BEC student should wait quietly until the designated time - they're lucky to get that chance

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

I always loved those dinners! Still do, actually.

110

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Ugh. I knitted 2" further before starting the left front v-neck than for the right; ripped back. Then realized I missed the right side slip 1 knit column, do I dropped down and latched it up. That's when I remembered it's slip 1 knit, then purl that stitch on the next row. We're in time out now🧶.

I dislike having to plan 2 possible bad days and also resent having to drive 30 minutes each way to the closest pharmacy.

110

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

I've used coriander but never noticed any flavor so I just leave it out. I sometimes sub parsley for cilantro - I like the flavor and it adds color.

Feeling much better this afternoon. Woke with a headache, which is finally gone, as are the other aches and pains; glad I had nothing planned for the day except knitting, reading, and napping - did quite well at those and GingerSnap totally approved. Beats getting flu or Covid!

0110

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

I do have the soapy cilantro gene, and I'll definitely pass on these!

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Rough night so far. Achy, headachy, stuffy nose (allergies, not vaccine response) causing me to wake every couple of hours. Still, it beats actually getting flu or Covid. Going to try to sleep a couple of hours before I give up. GingerSnap is joining me now.

GingerSnap is enjoying an evening bath on his heated blanket.

GingerSnap, a fuzzy orange tabby cat, is relaxing mid-bath on his dark brown heated blanket.

Both give me a slight fever and chills, along with aches and general malaise. I prefer to give one weekend to the reaction rather than 2; knitting, reading, embroidery lined up for later today and tomorrow, if necessary. Should be totally fine by Sunday; nothing on my schedule until Tuesday.

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Late breakfast/brunch after getting our flu and Covid vaccines. 2 weeks and we should be mostly immune for the winter months.

Thursday stuff: Today was a bit different. Last cataract scan, numbers are good, and tomorrow I can wear contacts again! Took long enough that missed knitting group, so SO and I went to a new-to-us diner for lunch (not impressed) and then picked up the CSA veggie box. Watching baseball now.

060

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Wednesday stuff: - dentist appt to check implant and do scans to create the crown. So much better than the trays of gel stuff - made tostadas for dinner - lots of baseball - bad stuff: I think the metal cover for the implant came off. Will call about replacement, it's sore and crown is 3 weeks out.

I pick up clutter and make sure they can get to the areas and surfaces that I pay them to clean. Frankly I don't care if they think I'm a slob; I'm paying them to clean any messes and basically shut up about it.

Tuesday stuff: - breakfast 🍳out with our farmer friends - supervised new housekeepers 🧹 - mah jongg🀄, where I won 2 games - spinach 🥬salad for dinner - good mail (stitch markers, quilting marking pens) - lots of baseball⚾️ - gonna be an early night...didn't sleep well last night and I'm dragging

We looked into buying an AWD EV when we moved to NH - wanted something AWD for winter - and gave up when we calculated the range when using heater and/or defroster and looked at where charging stations existed. It was not a workable solution at the time, and hasn't improved much in 7 years.

030

Knits With Cats @knitswithcats.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Monday stuff: - laundry and more laundry again - prepped excess leeks and carrots for freezer - organized SO prescriptions for the week - trimmed and manicured my nails - started Instacart order - started nuts.com and British foods orders - watched baseball and football

Wasn't familiar with Koel, since I don't have craft stores to browse. Looks like they're going to online only after 4 years of publication. Interesting, but not enough to subscribe as I don't knit wall hangings and art pieces. Seems somewhat in the style of Quiltfolk, but Farm and Fiber gets me.

Amazon has (last time I checked) West Yorkshire Spinners yarn - I haven't seen it "locally". They also sell a lot of Malabrigo. Ebay has thousands of listing for yarn and there are good mail order sites still around. I'm also planning to knit from stash for the next 50 - 75 years.

Alright now! It is Monday, but your ready. You’ve been studying. You’ve been planning. Your course is set. Now set your plan into action. Start the forward momentum, by lifting that foot & lean out. There it is. Let’s go! Be careful. Be safe. Be shiny. Be glimmer. Be you to the full. Take no shit.

I hope beautiful things happen to you this week, and when they do, I hope you can believe that you deserve each one of them.

Under our kitchen sink was what we called Medusa- a bundle of about 25 live wires, some uncapped, some with frayed insulation, nothing labeled, all near a leaky seam in the butcher block. Electrician and contractor turned off power to the house, mess was traced, replaced, and removed.

...some items ordered that SO opened and put aside. I'd ordered a couple again so I'm stocked up for the foreseeable future. - ordered local refills of meds we don't get by mail order - pickup Monday or Tuesday - investigated rain gutter covers as SO finally agrees he shouldn't climb ladders

End of week report: - at knitting group I worked on the cardigan front, but forgot to decrease for the v-neck; will be ripping back 2" today. - for "happy hours" I knitted on a sock and a shawl, then embroidered until my shoulder hurt - found more boxes to break down for recycling, also found...
