30 yrs. ago on this day, the US pressured Ukraine to surrender its nuclear arsenal, for security assurances. Russia invaded. Now someone thinks it’s a good idea to pressure Ukraine to give up land for new security assurances. This is probably a worse idea than injecting your veins with bleach.

My employer does business with a company in Kyiv. My colleague who is their main point of contact just relayed a message. "... confirmed that despite the heavy bombing and power cuts, they are OK, all working and staying strong." I had to take a minute to pull myself together. ruzzia is filth.

I agree that the parallels to how nazi Germany could be transformed into a peaceful democracy are important, and that this requires first russia's defeat and subsequently external enforcement. Only then can russians continue the process themselves.
