Having taken a close look at this, I rather wish I hadn't. Why bother creating this when there's so much proper art to display?

Here's an interesting street lamp I saw in Sheffield last night.

...little that's new. I noticed that the v.7 is still on sale; cheaper to begin with and currently offered at a 46% discount. Worth a try, given that. Useful features, but it turns out that it is rather big. Not too big to be usable, but bigger than I would like […] [Original post on mamot.fr]

[Obsolete firearm] Here are some examples where the gun won't go off.
It's on full cock but the pan is open so all the priming powder will have come out, and when the cock springs forward there's no frizzen present for it to strike a spark on. This is on half cock but the pan's open and the priming will have fallen out. To make it fire it would need to be re-primed (from a small flask most likely) and cocked. This is how a flintlock pistol would look after having been fired.

This pistol is at half cock. This is how it would be kept when loaded; it won't fire if the trigger is pulled (unless the gun is faulty) and requires that the cock (bit with the flint in - not called a "hammer') be pulled back one click. This gun is on full cock and will fire when the trigger is pulled.

[Shooting sports.] This morning I tried some clay shooting with a Darne shotgun made c. 1925-36. Very nice indeed; light, but little recoil. It's the one on the left, next to a German rifle converted to a .410 shotgun, and a German shotgun from 1906.

Which one of these musicians would you think had a reputation for heavy drinking and starting fights in pubs, based on their appearance and demeanour in this photo?
It's Cliff Richard and the Shadows, of course.
From left to right:
Bruce (rhythm guitar), a smile upon his face as if trying to impress upon the ladies how favourably he compares with Elvis. No tie.
Tony (drums), mostly hidden from view.
Cliff (vocals), looking wholesome.
Jet (bass), a sneer upon his lips as is he is asking whether you're looking at his bird and would like to step outside to discuss this further. Collar undone, tie loose (my old maths teacher would not be able to hear him).
Hank (lead guitar), with a pleasant smile as if living in the moment and enjoying it. Tie fastened, top button done up.

A modern trend in police uniforms reminds me of this, for some reason.
Three cosplayers dressed as Terran Federation troopers (Blake's 7, 1978-81). Their uniforms are black and have helmets designed specifically to cover their faces. The helmets have a green band around them, presumably to look more SF. They are armed with stocked, short firearms of some sort. The only insignia on the uniform is a Federation patch on the left chest.
