if someone i was playing a ttrpg with made a comic/book/etc retelling the campaign but with only their Super Special Character involved and everyone else's involvement cut out, i would feel annoyed that they were trying monetize time we spent together. why is this becoming so popular in fantasy

i work 30 hours a week at a job that i can access without a car and do with my disabilities, and i'll be locked out of basic human resources like health insurance & retirement benefits unless i get a similar job for 10 more hours a week, in a market that just isn't hiring, and it makes my blood boil

Please leave a comment telling the government that you DO NOT want Medicaid tied to a work requirement and why that is unfair, especially for disabled people. Begging you all to take 2 minutes to do this please.

When dipshits say stuff like "fighting AI is like if we fought cars," yes! Cars are killing the planet, crashes are the third leading cause of accidental death, entire species are teetering on the edge of extinction from roadkill, this is a great example of a thing people HAVE BEEN fighting.

what always gets me about the manga industry is how guys like eiichiro oda can actively support and campaign to rehabilitate the images of two different convicted pedophiles, but women who are harassed by their editors or caught smoking weed have to leave

i think it's both true that marginalized people under stressful conditions are punished more harshly for complaining/being perceived as negative, and that if you aim to do creative work in a professional capacity, you just straight up will get more work by faking confidence

i enjoy ffxiv on a normal level, but it makes me insane when the prevailing attitude surrounding it on social media is that it's okay if nothing else but this one game matters to you, and when it inevitably errs in some way, the personal devastation is thus on par with the end of the world

i miss when social media wasn't fractioned by genuinely insane tech billionaires because i at least used to see people talk about anime online. the only thing that endures on here is people who are so obsessed with xiv that they've abandoned all other interests, even though they also despise xiv

for whatever reason, the resident evil 1 remake gives me violent motion sickness from the changing camera angles (the older games do too, but not nearly as bad), so while i agree w the sentiment that it's a shame that they don't make that style of game anymore, i wonder how you could design for this

playing team games where you pick specific characters is so funny bc ill always be like "i want to play as the cute girl" and then i'll really suck at her, and one week later it's like "i guess this rando man who i'm good at playing is my favorite character now"

when people are like "what will my boss think if you accidentally put content they don't like on my screen at work" im like, actually i don't care what your boss thinks. i'm not making art for them. don't scroll social media where you follow artists at work, because that's your problem, not mine

2110

scooter sisyphus @knightofbunnies.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

i'm not really interested in designing characters who just nebulously exist w/out the context of a story that informs what they mean-- most characters i write are for the reason of roleplay, and i think you are a better roleplayer if you approach each game as Shared story rather than Your Guy's

criticism of genre fiction rn is stuck in the question of "am i allowed to like this?" as some kind of holdover from an image of nerds as socially oppressed, but we live in a time when pop genre fiction reflects hegemonic forces. you're "allowed" anything, but you can examine your biases as well

180

scooter sisyphus @knightofbunnies.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

my biggest criticism of ffxiv's writing is that a subtle nationalist bent suffuses everything, one that portrays nationalism as one of the most sympathetic forces in the world, and this applies to how both heroes and villains are written. no expansion is exempt from this, it is core to the game
