I've made some cool tails in 20 years, but think @orientalspade.bsky.social now has one of my favorites. Multi-material mix of PETG-CF/TPU on the base like used for the head. Riveted clips. Strung with EVA dowel. 8 links. #furry #fursuit #fursuitmaker

Not only to always question yourself, learn yourself, and stay interested. But it truly breaks you down to core values and fundamentals, as a spirit or human being; however one chooses to see themselves at the raw level. The best journey and fulfillment you'll ever have is inside yourself, 💯.

I like this take, actually. I am not the spiritual type myself, but I've cherry picked as well my morals and beliefs from a variety of places, experience, and faiths. I understand "love thy neighbor" in my own version, i.e. I like you've also created your own system, and I believe many should. -

Unironically I have told my therapist, "this dude online who really likes Quest 64 - it's an old game - reminded me I rented it as a kid. And then that reminded me an old rental store I went to I forgot about."

*or rather, I should also add, retopology scripts exist and are getting better in things like Zbrush. Letting the algorithm do it for you. But I've still found this to be questionable results -> final game. It's still skipping a point of learning and the "why" it's done the way it is/exists at all.

Happy someone said it. Even in the world of 3D, learning of things like retopology is skipped. It has many uses outside just games, and is often a peev of mine. Endless space = bigger games = less optimization and creativity. More restraints created creativity in old games when all you had was 64MB

Coming to appreciate the majesty of the combustion engine, and what goes into making a multi-1000lb machine keep up for thousands of miles too hot, too cold, and under stress. One of those things we take for granted now as a commodity is truly amazing when you consider all the parts make the whole.

You and me both. Partner is the mechanic and electronics wiz; he made me appreciate engineering. I am not a gearhead, but I can appreciate an old truck. A time when things were simple enough for the average person (me), and the Right to Repair was still believed in via manufacturers.

I was about to say... Rebuilding a '85 Toyota right now, yes carburetor and not EFI - the fuck is dude complaining about? The simplest of machines is asking too much of him to think. Why bother to rebuild/replace if he'll bitch the whole time? That's the whole fun of it, bringing it back to life.

Word has lost its absolute mind on any typing and grammar. I could not believe how horrendous it was using it again a few months ago. I felt like it was making me hallucinate, but it was hallucinating.

I was actively putting myself on the line. Instead of taking what felt like a "backseat" to it anymore. If I fucked up in my business, it was me, not someone else. That might be what you're feeling too with "Fidel" - it's many things encompassed together as a conglomerate, and less scattered.

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 24/07/2026
Absolutely. I had a similar effect with my name - I had already adopted it, the King/König surname, but it also became part of my artistic identity. I became an individual, and not a faceless one of my designs. That was also very validating of "taking responsibility". No matter the form of the name,

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 24/07/2026
Or just online people call me King, or Koni (for König), which isn't unlike the surname I changed to. All extensions of ourselves as we grow and change, is how I've come to experience it.

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 24/07/2026
Obviously through therapy and all those things; it was something I could control for once and come to terms with myself. Taking back my own power and identity, and I see the same too with you taking Fidel. Something just fits right as your life changes. Mother did a similar thing as well.

I did this some years back with my legal name, but just changed the spelling of it. And waxed my last name to a whole new one not in the family. It very much came with identity, and I did the same naturally settling into it. I was never not L, but I'm a better version of L now that I picked.

Seconded thought as well with previous experience with USPTO. With such a broad description like this, and so nonsensical - it's not something they'd take. It has to be specific, and easy to read. And/or exactly as you pointed out, it's copyright instead which is more literary and artistic works.

I want to suggest something like Dark City, because technically sci-fi but I'd never say cyberpunk. More like Matrix or Dune on meth.

I had a similar thought too, yeah. And with the pretty short lifespan of makers, it doesn't encourage a lot of business professionalism to commit to. A lot of times it's a filler moneymaker between things, not a dedicated retirement to put all that manpower into naturally. Low ROI, high stress

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
And it's not wrong to just stop at the bare minimum. Some people are happy with that, and that's cool. Me personally though, not so much. Keep going, keep pushing when you have the access to those things, and share them. Maybe inspire someone to have a lightbulb moment.

It's totally a trade of its own obviously and takes a lot of time to master. Even after my 7-8 years away in the professional field with software and mega printers, there's always something new I'm learning. Part of me can sympathize with not wanting to learn more beyond what is needed - it's alot.

I really hope so. The experience I've had with a few clients and randos asking me questions makes me worry. This stuff didn't exist when I was first starting in 00s. Maybe because as I got older and met my maker idols, I found they kind of sucked and what they did wasn't so special at all... 😆

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
Taking advantage of the less knowledgeable wanting to learn a trade, and now they've learned it's bad or $$$ to ask simple questions. I've honestly never encountered that in any other place. I'm very anti as-is, free information for all, so that also plays into my opinion.

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
This was always my take as well - it's an answer to needing money at the end of the day. Which, part of me can't shit on, I get it. I think my knee jerk most comes from youngins feeling they have to pay to learn; wanting to learn from [maker idol] and it becomes predatory. For basic learning on YT

This is something too I'd love to help people with more, on head sizing. There are tools to help with using a mock 3D head, for example, and adjusting to size. But Blender is very ambiguous. I've had success with my mannequin so far for people, but making a proper add-on would be even better.

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
This is the best way to put it how I'm thinking, yeah. Those who do have that access, I don't see much push. Maybe 2-3 people on personal projects I've seen have surprised me, but not beyond.

Dude honestly! I'm shocked how absolutely crammed artist and vendor alleys are at furcons. I don't see the same with anime cons, or TCG conventions. It's been a hot minute since I've been to a furcon, and it's a shame that's still an issue universally it seems.

There are so, so many basic engineering and design principles that you can learn of and apply in something like suit making. I imagine it's a knowledge barrier issue, or seeing suit making as more "art" than a "product". You're purchasing a piece of moving art, not a tool. It really should be both.
110
KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
I've always been shocked by even the over simplicity of moving jaws. They have not changed much from the resin-casted days of V's and some bolts. It's a "cheaper" option, but more robust joint concepts exist. And different kinds. Simple engineering things that just haven't come here.

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
Even as a maker I agree. I'm not shocked to hear makers being turned down for cons more commonly now. There's a lot of same-same makers with same-same offerings. It's old, it's wasted space. It would encourage more competition and creativity amongst us for once.

KNG.XIII @kngxiii.black · 20/07/2026
This. Didn't add it to my word vomit, but I was surprised after years to still see much of the ecosystem isn't treated as business by makers themselves. For such a multidisciplinary craft, it can be respected with the right presentation and professionalism. But you could also say they don't want to.
