Although there are some valid use cases Unity has (asset store / asset management / editor tooling) which their AI features could help with for indies, but you don't need to burn tokens on that when a different approach is better. Honestly just templatize tools in a blueprints style.

I don't know why there is such a wave of people trying to act like they are flooded with AI when across all gamedev spaces this content is always low-effort and filtered out / removed. The only real AI bros here are tech investors putting features into Unity / Unreal.

Reddit itself takes out almost all spam accounts or bots, which is impressive. If you see a community flooded by bots it means the mod team chose to turn off Reddit's filters. Each time we look into a report of AI it's just a developer using a translation tool or speaks English as a second lang.

There is so much witchhunting in the gamedev / indiedev spaces lately, trying to prove a user is a bot or using AI when they aren't. Routinely almost 95% of our investigations find a user is indeed organic.

It's always weird seeing comments like this on BlueSky, because showcasing posts are not allowed in our community. These things simply do not happen in any noticeable capacity and we routinely remove more AI content than the 'anti-ai' indie dev spaces I also moderate lol.

You need 10 minimum karma in the community which you get by commenting on other peoples posts.

Overall I think this feature will keep Unity stock 'soaring' in investors eyes even if it isn't picked up by studios, but the ability to built in-editor tools and interface with the asset store could turn into something major for indies down the road.

Unity's fundamental lack of understanding of AI tooling is concerning but the part about the AI agent letting you find assets straight from the store and import them into the project could be useful. Also lol @ the Discord notif sound going off every 5s in the video.

you can write elegant code but for people who want to focus on understanding API documentation or features of their library, the AI does the same job that forums already were serving but with better citations.

many people discussing the validity of AI coding dont realize that unlike drawn artwork, the coding community has a long-standing history of copy/pasted code from stack overflow to public libraries. the more accurate discussion is AI coding is like an artist getting a brush pack from someone else.

Remember kiddos, every time you vote for a Democrat roughly 1000 homeless people are euthanized by EMTs while firefighters let peoples homes burn down. That's why we vote for 3rd party candidates like Russian Notspyman.

we were releasing a multiplayer jam game and for some reason in version control a bug was introduced preventing multiplayer in the latest build. but singleplayer wasnt working in the older build. so we had to ship 2 different builds to this jam hoping people read the bio.

the missing thing here is that AI automation steadily increases bugs per commit and this has been seen time and time again. code complete to get the right API calls you need is awesome, but people shouldnt let AI run wild refactoring everything and spending tokens without direction

This isn't the death knell, it's marketing. The dev held off on building their brand to focus on gameplay while others filled that niche. If you properly enter a market first you have the advantage

How do we feel about Itch's descent into fascism? Many developers are raising concerns about the "door" blocking out those who are not deemed worthy. In these times of mass censorship it appears Simbot might be the only source of truth.
