Pic of the day. Tuesday, September 29th I keep coming back to this character pub as being amongst the best florally decorated businesses in Bath. You'll find the Coeur de Lion - reckoned to be Bath's smallest alehouse - in Northumberland Place, just off the High Street.

When three stars align
Bath's blessed with nearly as many museums as coffee shops, but l spent time yesterday visiting one which is a little out of the way. A modest little terraced Georgian townhouse from which astronomer William Herschel just happened to spot a new planet while out in the garden and surveying the heavens through his homemade telescope! Owned by Bath Preservation Trust and run as the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, it would seem the Trust has big plans for number 19 New King Street. More about that coming up.

Helena Hodges writes: "Good afternoon, Richard I was uncertain who to tell this to, until my friend mentioned you! On my walk today up from Woolley to Charlcombe Farm, I was saddened to see that the old well has been buried in detritus  I attach pictures, one from Andrew Swift's book showing the well before the permitted road and mine from today. Hope you can highlight this and maybe it might be resurrected? Thank you." Thank you, Helena. Was this a health and safety issue? Does anyone know?
