ONE week left to apply - PhD position on a VERY cool project. I spent 3 years as a postdoc with Frank, and it was the most scientifically rewarding phases of my career thus far. He is an excellent mentor, and the facilities at UZH are incredible. PLUS Switzerland is absolutely beautiful. APPLY!

Food web context modifies predator foraging and weakens trophic interaction strength
We experimentally quantified the density-dependent effect of a third species on a predator's functional response to understand the underlying processes and long-term consequences of trophic interacti...

Had a wonderful time hosting Jana Isanta-Navarro at the University of Zurich's IEU BEEES Series - super interesting talk reflecting on how anthropogenic environmental change alters consumer-resource interactions and lots of great chats with the UZH/EAWAG community 🤩

What a fantastic talk by Sara Mitri at the University of Zurich today! So many insights into bacterial interactions in different environmental contexts, over time, with co-evolution. 🤩 Amazing work. Thanks for organizing this seminar @klemmen.bsky.social!

Since I've introduced a few of my colleagues to this resource recently: www.phylopic.org has free to use silhouettes of a large number of organisms. These can be really useful for drawing out phylogenies (for the non biologists: basically a species-level family tree).

We believe this framework can be applied to other research questions such as the ecological effects of intraspecific trait variation and may prove essential in forecasting the consequences of rapid changes to biogeochemical cycles in the Anthropocene  (4/5)

BUT … to do so successfully researchers must expand beyond organismal stoichiometry, and study all components of the elemental phenotype – the acquisition, assimilation, allocation and losses of elements (3/5)

So, let's try this one out... hopefully we can recreate what we had before! I am a plant ecologist and biodiversity scientist at the Department of Geography of the University of Zurich in Switzerland. I am interested in all things biodiversity, plants, ecology, social justice and feminism.

Excited to join the BlueSky community! I'm a evolutionary ecologist at the University of Zurich using microcosm experiments to investigate the role of trophic interaction modifications in community dynamics. Interested in all things eco-evo (especially consumer-resource interactions).
