On this day in 1992, battleship USS Missouri (1944) was decommissioned. Just a year earlier, she saw her final combat action against Iraq in the Gulf War. The iconic ship made history as the site of Japan’s surrender signing on Sept. 2, 1945, ending WWII.

The 🇳🇱 Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Damen for 3 new patrol vessels for the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard. The cutters will replace ships that are over 25 years old and are expected to enter service in 2029. Four fast interceptor boats will also be delivered to intercept smuggling vessels.

On this day in 1945, the RAF mistakenly bombed the Bezuidenhout district of The Hague. The bombers were attempting to hit a German V-2 launch site in a forest near The Hague but made a navigational error. As a result, 486 Dutch civilians were killed. youtu.be/4FKXzbejq1o?...
