A kava-drinking riff on John Wick is Jone Wise.

Dark-looking film poster for Jone Wise. A person wearing a sulu and carrying a bag and kava ladle (sorry, I'm not sure of the correct word) is silhouetted on a black background by a light shining from behind them.

Text: Black belt. No chaser. Why can beat you? Atueta Rabuka is Jone Wise.

My YA scifi book 'Migration' won a NZ Booklovers Award today! (I may have danced.) Congrats to all category winners and finalists! The story is about spaceships and aliens and laser guns, but underneath it's about colonisation and grief. #booksky #nzbooks

Cover of 'Migration' with an indigenous girl in front holding her fists up in a fighting stance, and a boy behind her looking away, but defending her. The suggestion of a city is behind them.

Samoan and Tongan craftsmen made civavonovono (breastplates) for Fijian chiefs. They bound pearl shell and whale teeth together using the same techniques they had mastered in canoe-building. This one is from the 19th century. Ref OL002088, Oldman Collection, Te Papa
