The author of one of my favourite books, speaks about that and about his attitude to life and time. Great clip, thanks for sharing. (Interesting that BBC Prog Index only lists the repeat date later that year.)

I saw that post-Nuke drama. I've been to Sheffield in more recent times. Why did they never rebuild? 😎

The puppet Vogon is amazing. Very creepy! The other puppet looks different, but is it still a Vogon, or something else? Did you find a full cast list yet?

The stone frog was mentioned in the novel "So Long And Thanks....". The blink was to suggest *someone* was watching this *virtual* return home by Arthur. (Spoiler: It's Ford, who disguises himself as a Vogon and interrupts Arthur's 'game'.) [My 1992 docu script, approved by Douglas Adams.]

I missed that piece in DWM in 2018, but glad to have read it now. Very nicely done, well researched and written. Did the exercise book/story idea images appear in DWM? I was astonished when I found it myself later (and put it in the "42" book) as it was two years before he pitched it to BBC!

In the 1990s there was a little studio down that Mews called (I think) "Aerodrome", where I shot a lot of interviews for Sci-Fi Channel and the BBC's "The Making of Blake's 7". “He’s never cruel, he’s never unkind,” said Terrance in "More Than 30 Years in the Tardis". Amusingly, that bit wasn't actually in vision. It was over a clip of Colin Baker looking angry from "Trial of a Time Lord".

Very good. Yes, this book fed my obsession too, but not until I was given it by a school chum in about 1975. It was the Television Club film covering the making of the Sea Devils broadcast twice the week before the serial began (I was off school, luckily and saw it twice) which really got me stoked.

030

Kevin Jon Davies @kjd42.bsky.social · 07/12/2025

#DoctorWho / #SeaDevilsRedux (BBC tonight). Shame BBC destroyed a great "Television Club" film about the making of that story, which I saw *twice* the week before the first episode aired in Feb 1972. Ironically, I was off sick from school, so I got lucky. Made me (aged 10) want to work in telly.

Sea Devil gets the chop from Jon Pertwee.
