Their approach is also suspect. Actually needing identity documents (I think?)... It should be possible to implement the verification using eID in a much more transparent manner.

Bitwarden vault as a separate app connected to browser hasn't really worked for me well. With browsers I always use the extensions. Have had no issues with passkeys like this across different browsers (Brave, Firefox) or systems (Linux, Mac, Windows)

I would second the recommendation to start with "Player of Games". "Consider Phlebas" is quite a heavy start without having background knowledge about the Culture universe. It is fine as a second book tho.

Unless explained to the user very well, this can backfire tho? What if user is trying to move to another App that is able to use data that Tangled saved to users PDS and then wipes it via this functionality without understanding that underlying data is the same.

At some point I worked so much with code/packages that often did this that I only started writing tests like this. Was less of a hassle than debugging flaky tests all the time.

And sometimes packages also try to be "clever" on import and/or repeated code has side effects that cause test instabilities. Importing in method and then running test harness that runs each test as separate process helps here.

Another place is tests, import paths themselves often also need to be tested. It is often better to include the actual imports in the test methods together with the tested code to catch import path issues.

There is a lot of python code that uses method scoped imports. One type of code that uses this pattern is code that is run in distributed contexts. It is done to avoid importing to global scope that then would need to be pickled to be shared to workers.

There is also the "this thing doesn't have this functionality but it really should..." And suddenly after 45min you have got that implemented (in a sufficiently usable state). I think I have done this a few times already. It is quite refreshing, because I usually got demotivated due to these things.
