I call it "The Aristocrats".

BOOK STUFFF!!! TRISKELION is coming Fall 27. It's a big adventure: pirates, land-whales, a road that's never the same twice, a castle that no one gets into or out of. And it's about friendships changing, childhood ending, and three young people facing big questions about life, alone, and together

Background is a redwood forest with a shaft of sunlight streaking through. Foreground is a book announcement from Publishers Weekly, which reads: Kendra Levin at Simon & Schuster has acquired, in a six-figure deal, TRISKELION by Kiyash Monsef (ONCE THERE WAS). The middle grade novel follows three former best friends; when one of them goes missing, the other two reunite and discover that the made-up world they played in as younger children wasn't a game, but a real place that now has their friend in its clutches. Publication is scheduled for fall 2027; Katelyn Detweiler at Jill Grinberg Literary Management sold world rights.

I'm biased, but I personally think it rocks.

I've heard questionable kerning be referred to as "keming"

I feel like you are subtweeting (as I am) the very book my wife just read but probably there are many.

But the schwa gremlin in me thinks the real solution is Hən

040

Kiyash Monsef @kiyash.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

My natural inclination is "hon" because I think it better captures the roundness of the vocalization. But given these arguments maybe there's a third way? Hunn, perhaps?

This is exactly what I was wondering

I feel like it could have a broader use case.

Someone put a couple packets of sour patch kids in one of my boxes. Made me smile after hours of signing turned my signature into a meaningless scribble. A hand massage would have been capital, tho.

Publishers should hide a cool little surprise somewhere in the tip-in boxes.

One thing I learned when I was driving around the country ages ago is that the dirt-ass access roads of middle America are some of the most charmed and haunted places in the world. Just full of secrets.

Saw this gem in the wild ages ago. I imagine the editor who pushed this headline onto the wires is still cackling about it to this day.

AP headline, Jun 21, 1997 - Buffalo's Colon Pitches No-Hitter

BUFFALO, NY - Bartolo Colon, one of the top pitching prospects in Cleveland's organization, threw a no-hitter yesterday as the Buffalo Bisons blanked the New Orleans Zephyrs 4-0.

Copy editor on my first book suggested I change "legal-guarded" (as in, the past tense compound verb for what a legal guardian does). I stetted (or stot? stat?)

Man, The Bone Temple has one of the most awesome uses of diegetic music I've ever seen. Easily up there with Sinners and Night of the Hunter. I watched it last week, and I can't stop thinking about it. If you can handle the outrageous gore and torture scenes, it's brilliant.

It's been years since I saw Birth, but my recollection of it is that from a technical and storytelling perspective, you could put it next to a movie made last week and it would hold up shockingly well. Of course, it has a few other problems.

Kiyash Monsef @kiyash.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

My favorite thing about silent movies is the sense of people figuring out in real time what a movie is and how it's supposed to work. I was lucky enough to see Abel Gance's Napoleon projected in tricolor triptych and, like, there was a road not taken, but what an interesting road.

I'm not a Catholic, nor am I deeply informed on the history or nuances of Catholicism, but/and this is a highly entertaining thread. Reminds me of randomly tuning into the 2008 Wimbledon men's final and discovering that I really like tennis.
