I am actually the weird one here. My whole family loves that shit. And when I say my whole family I mean a lot of people. 4 grandparents 8 uncles and aunts, and like 19 cousins

Well you see, that is still the case sometimes. But those guys are mostly albanians from north Macedonia or kosovo. My brother has met a bunch of albanians and I think only one was from albania. Also most albanians online seem to be from the north. I am more of a southern albanian

Ngl I don't like how my mom cooks the dish. I will try to cook it myself to see if it is actually good but I never liked the idea of yogurt with meat

That may have been true a generation ago but now we actually have university education and can get office jobs. Also we mostly get the shitty jobs in Italy or grecce. If we are in Germany we are chilling

I googled this and apparently albania is no longer a Muslim majority country. It's now around 45%. Idk how reliable these statistics are but what I can say is that religion was not a big deal anyway. Socialism was our ideology and since the 90s we have been a bit aimless

Albanians go to greece if they are uneducated. They go to Italy if they are educated but have shitty degrees. And finally they move to Germany if they have good a degree that allows them to get a good job there If you are a filthy albanian bourgeoisie you go to America (half joking)

I'm asking because I think they haven't thought about it at all themselves. Do you think your whiteness is a big part of your identity? Do you want to signal to other white people that you are here? Why? You want to talk to other white people? You feel solidarity in your whiteness?

Or it could simply be cultural pride or celebration. Heritage, music, food, dress, holidays etc. And the people I see put that they are white in their bios are a lot of the type supposedly "woke" so I believe that do it without any thought behind it. I don't think it's a big deal at all

Now why do minorities put race in their bios? It could be a lot of things like: Community affiliation and solidarity Visibility and representation Boundary setting: some may omit race for safety reasons but some may mention it to set expectations about experiences they've had (microaggressions)
