I received very poorly fitting compression stockings, but that was it. and a medication I had no business taking. so, providers: respect your patients. patients: respect your providers. if a patient or provider mistreats you, just focus on the present issue and take it up with them later.

anyway, most of the ranting is over. I’m just happy I was treated decently this time. I went into the ER both times because I just wanted decent compression socks. that was all I wanted. it was my one request, as I couldn’t afford to buy any myself yet. they couldn’t even do that adequately.

that is not the way someone should be treated. even if the injury is minor, it’s your job as a healthcare provider to treat your patients. even if you’re not 100% there, you need to still respect your patients. especially in the emergency department.

the EMERGENCY ROOM. you know, the place where people tend to go when things are some degree of severe. I went into that department with swollen, painful legs and walked out feeling like I didn’t deserve any kind of treatment whatsoever.

every person in my primary care clinic treated me with respect. they were kind to me and, while it was nearing the end of the day, they still took time to be there and make sure I was safe and accounted for. it was a STARK contrast to the ER my last two visits.

she had no reason to rush me out and treat me so shamefully, but she did. I was given water, apple juice, and a cold pack while I waited for the provider today. told that if I felt lightheaded, use the cold pack, and if I feel woozy or sick, there was water and juice for me in case I needed them.

the ER was devoid of patients. nearly fully quiet with the exception of staff milling about, idling with nothing else to do. my nurse call button was, once again, away from me. there was no rush of patients while I was in that room. for once, it was a couple of hours of quiet in an ER.

I’ve been ruminating the last 24+ hours. after having obesity mentioned MULTIPLE times in that summary, discrediting my POTS diagnosis, brushing off my pain, brushing away the BLATANT edema in both of my legs made worse by improperly fitting compression stockings… I thought that ER doc was right.

she said that was alright, but suggested that if I can’t secure an apartment in the next eight months, reach out. I told her that was the plan, as I needed to be out of this situation for my health asap. she listened, expressed condolences for the treatment. she even said it was traumatic.

partner works full time, we have three elderly animals in need of care, and we only have a rental car for so long. she suggested also working with agencies but I told her that we weren’t irresponsible with finances. we just needed a few months to save, that’s it.
