Depending on how this plays out, my #Audible subscription could be on the drop pile as well. Professional voice actors can make a mediocre book good, and a good book great. “Virtual Voice” can make a good book unlistenable. #BookSky www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m...

Everand’s subscription model now truly stinks. While I sometimes used to have to wait to listen a semi popular title, now almost everything requires the Plus tier. $119 for 1/month/annual-pay. Audible is a better bet. #booksky #Everand #EverandSucks

Finally got around to listening to book #5 in the Dennis E. Taylor Bobiverse series. Engaging and understandable hard science, amusing characters. Great plot arcs. Looking forward to book 6, whenever it comes out. #booksky

Great weather day. Took a few hours this evening to clean up my flower boxes, to sort all the annuals I bought last weekend, to top off the dirt in my strawberry tower, and to feed said strawberry tower.

The Syrian Arabic word for a hamster is أبو جراب (abu jrab), where jrab refers to a pouch/saddlebag/tote. And abu often means “father of,” but can also function as a general honorific (like “mister”). So it’s not too big a stretch to say the Syrian Arabic word for a hamster means “Mister Saddlebags”

Self serving move. Not surprising coming from the figurehead of the oligarchy. Don’t trust crypto. Currency not backed by an actual valued resource or associated with a particular country’s culpability is foolish. No way to enforce accountability. www.cnbc.com/2025/04/08/d...

The Oregonian are spammers. I have “unsubscribed” from all of their emails multiple times in the last four weeks. Guess it’s time to black hole them.

The fire department just kicked me out of my house. The road construction crew hit punctured the gas main. I am sitting in my car at the other end of the street waiting for the gas company to turn off the gas. I hope I don’t regret not trying to grab the cats before I dashed out the door.

After dealing with an upper respiratory infection at the beginning of the month, I’m back on track with my nightly exercise (and reading!) routine. What? Me, a bit anal with record keeping? .. maybe? ;)

Thank you for recognizing the difference between a people and their government. Yes, most of us know who to blame for the fallout.

No checks and balances. There goes the Constitution. Just unhinged activity. If this country survives this oligarchic revolution, their activities set precedent for future governments.

One wonders, how much of the judicial system is already under thrall to the rabid crimal(s)? And, one wonders what more quiet and LEGAL actions they’re up to while we’re all distracted with the unconstitutional and illegal unilateral actions of the executive branch. www.msn.com/en-us/news/w...

Started rereading “Death and Relaxation” book one in Devon Monk’s Ordinary Magic series. I forgot how much fun these books are. Plus, if you love Oregon it is well represented within the pages and the confines of the fictitious coastal town or Ordinary, Oregon. Highly recommended. #BookSky
