A ballot goes through a 5-step process before you see the results. Through Thursday we posted results from 60,697 voters. We expect to process approximately 19,000 more. We will work through Saturday to get you the most complete picture. Find results at kitsap.gov/elections and results.votewa.gov.
Path of a ballot
Step 1: Receiving Ballots: Elections staff retrieve ballots from official ballot drop boxes and the Post Office.
Step 2: Ballot Sorting: Ballots are scanned through the sorter machine and sorted into groups based on precinct. Ballot images and signatures are captured.
Step 3: Signature Verification: Signatures are reviewed by election staff and compared to the signatures on the voter's record. This is where ballots are challenged or accepted.
Step 4: Ballot Processing: Accepted ballots are opened and separated from the envelope. Then they are shuffled to maintain voter privacy.
Step 5: Tabulation: Ballots are scanned into the tabulation system. Teams of two adjudicate any issues using the Voter Intent Guide. Ballots are not tabulated until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

We’ve been as interested in Jimothy as anyone. But someday, we will all have forgotten about the lad, which is probably what he’d prefer.
Mazey, on the other hand, will never tire of our attention, and the belly rubs, and the treats.

And Mazey loves it when you vote in the Primary. We don’t speak dog, so we can’t know that for sure, but look at that face. How could you assume otherwise?

Ballots are due by 8 p.m., August 4.

We are honored to mention ... that our Kitsap County "I Voted" stickers received a 2025 Clearie Honorable Mention. Every year the US Election Assistance Commission issues Clearinghouse Awards, aka "Clearies," for best practices in election administration. The award program was launched in 2016 to further promote best practices established as part of the Help America Vote Act of 2002. Congratulations to Poulsbo resident Tiffany Tertipes, Bremerton resident Brian Carlisle and 2025 Kingston High School graduate Ana Villa for submitting the award-winning designs!
