Strangely enough, when I used to go to Michael's for craft supplies, I had TONS of people come up to me and ask me questions without even looking the part, dress-code wise. That one I couldn't really figure out. Maybe I was carrying so much merch that they figured I was reshelving go-backs?

I keep saying that if Newsom somehow wins 2028 we'll see him pull the whole "We need to look forward, not backwards" bit, and none of the Trump admin or GOP will face any consequences. He's very transparently awful if you're watching/listening to *everything* he does/says.

Well, the tariffs are definitely causing my brother a *lot* of trouble, but he loves his community, so he lets them hang out for as long as they like. He has a lot of art from local artists because of it. He's also had regulars tell him that it's become a safe space for them, and he's proud of that.

I can attest to the fact that some of these examples still exist. In fact, my brother owns the coffee shop one, but it's small, so it's more of an artist hang-out. There's a large tabletop gaming shop that also sells custom teas in Burbank (Geeky Teas.) Plus, a lot of cities have rec centers.

I went back and forth over whether or not I should post this, but because it's actually saved me multiple times, I think, and I hope, that it could help someone else.

"I wasn't going to post this, because I don't want it to seem like I'm making light of this situation at all. In fact, I hate hate HATE how often I've had to resort to this last ditch effort myself, but in case this helps someone else escape in the future, I want to make people aware of something you can try. If it ever seems like you're stuck with someone who isn't going to take "No" for an answer, momentarily become insane in a way that he couldn't possibly anticipate. By which I mean, be completely out of pocket in a way that isn't actually harmful, but would ring alarm bells in the brain of anyone that's used to your normal behavior. My best example is one that you probably won't have the resource to use if you have to try this, but it illustrates what I mean by "couldn't possibly anticipate."

There was a guy who lived in an apartment above a small shop I was working at for a time. He would visit the shop often, and we would all chat, and I got the impression that we were friends. If he was ever flirting with me, I literally had no idea, so when he asked me to hang out after work one day, I really just thought we were going to hang out. However, while we were in his apartment he told me he wanted to show me something on his computer, and he decided to put on some really porny videos, and started talking in a way that made me incredibly uncomfortable. I wanted to leave, and he started trying to guilt me into staying, so I said, "Alright, but I want to show you a fun video, too!" So he let me use his computer, and I put on an episode of Salad Fingers, and made him watch the whole thing with a huge smile on my face. From the look on his face, I knew it had worked, and I said, "Okay well it's getting late, so I think I should go." and he agreed and let me leave without hesitation at all. Maybe he would have taken no for an answer if I had persisted past his arguments before that, but I wasn't going to take that chance.

I realize that this sounds like a joke, but…

Someone here set off one of the is-actually-just-a-bomb ones in the park across the street at 11am a few days ago. My dad freaked out and ran outside to see if something blew up in the driveway. My dad is almost completely deaf, but he heard and felt it shake the house.
