In one hand the man holds a large orange mushroom (I can't identify it because I haven't read the book). I can't identify what he's holding in his other hand, but it's some kind of brass instrument -- maybe a trumpet, cornet, or flugelhorn. I don't know why he's holding a musical instrument while foraging for mushrooms, leaving this just one of several mysteries related to the cover.

Every superhero is a metaphor that fights other metaphors of the same clade The Flash is a physics, who fights other physics (mirrors, aerodynamics, cold). Superman is a god, who fights other gods. That’s so good, but Batman is a fear who fights other fears. That’s always the easiest match to sell.
