Funny how ads for comic books can roll around in my head for thirty-something years, then one day, all of a sudden...they close the deal.

Those two square inches of magenta is all it took to sell me on this beauty. I’m imagining the pure joy of seeing this sign in the real world pointing to haunted mansionssss– plural!

I almost bought these socks just for the tag. Then I remembered that the camera in my pocket could enable me to look at the tag whenever I want. (they're at Target)

'Magic Fun Shop' is a new photo book by Adam Wallacavage that documents the legendary, but sadly defunct, Philadelphia store. It's mostly photos of dangling rubber masks, but the shots of vintage prank packaging twist my bittersweet heart. thesecretheadquarters.bigcartel.com/product/magi...

I had a nagging feeling within me that I’ve seen this graphic before, and after racking through the deep recesses of my brain, I remembered where I saw it. I was so fond of the graphic myself that I snapped a picture of it. The pencil return box at Novelty Golf in Chicago. 💀

I found this clip art AGAIN! I wasn't even searching, but it popped up in the "Pagan Invasion: Halloween" video from 1990. This was my reward for watching a Halloween mix tape on VHS from @trashwitchh.bsky.social!

Seen at a flea market.. this weird, spooky, coin-operated game. As a kid, I could not have resisted this.

I’m not sure why, but I find it comforting that Walmart has a freestanding display dedicated to one-dollar rubber snakes.

For me it doesn’t get more cozy than the set of The Computer Chronicles in 1983. How I miss the dark, wooded interiors of the 1980s.

Ghost Stories: Graveyard Thriller (1986) consists entirely of people telling spooky tales on a cemetery set, but the Vestron logo and title card are enough to make me consider it "elevated horror." (BTW it's on Tubi tubitv.com/movies/62029...) #horror #vestron #tubi

I love it when price tags reveal an item's life story. First released on VHS in 1991, Target tried to sell this Moonlighting pilot for $17.95. Then, they put it on clearance for $12.00, and thirty-odd years later I bought it for a buck.
