Shuffle Song of the Day #686: The Turn of the Screw - Heaven & Hell #KJSSotD
Cover of "The Devil You Know" by Heaven & Hell

A monochrome red and black artwork featuring a three tongued, horned demon with no eyes that is holding a nail punctured torso up as a snake wraps around the crucifix it is attached to (unseen, mostly). Other crosses with people on them are visible in the murky background. A ribbon runs across the bottom about a fifth of the way up that is black on the left and features a diamond pattern on the right incorporating some gold, separated by a golden circle in the center with "25" and "41" written on either side (a reference to Matthew 25:41, I think?) and a winged devil of sorts in its center. On the left portion the artist name is written in white ("&" in gold), with the members of the band written below a golden divider (also in gold: "RONNIE JAMES DIO TONY IOMMI GEEZER BUTLER VINNY APPICE"). On the right, in the center, the album name is written against a smaller black ribbon in gold.

10. Bats (1999) (Category: Credits connection; Pat Statham: Actor, Medic -> Stunts) Lou Diamond Phillips and some fake science with a horde of bats, what's not to like? Had spiders last year, bats this one, TBD for the future. #KJHorror26
Poster for "Bats"

A lone house and tree against a sunset background, with the top half being fully dark and the bottom as well (minus the writing over the top of it). Written upside down in white in the top center is the title (as if hanging upside down, like a bat). Below is a large bat with glowing eyes, and then a large number of bats are visible in the house/tree scene below. The tagline written in white above credits info is, "Where do you hide when the dark is alive?" Credits info is at the bottom in blue, including the stars of the movie, director, writer, etc. The Destination Films logo is visible in the bottom right, and one bit of red writing is at the bottom of this credits block, centered, "Out of hell. October 22"

Shuffle Song of the Day #685: Ren's Pecs - Ren & Stimpy #KJSSotD
Cover of "You Eediot!" (an album from the Ren & Stimpy show)

This cover features a Ren & Stimpy version of the Abbey Road cover, with Ren, Stimpy, Muddy Mudskipper, and Mr. Horse appearing from left to right. The Nickelodeon orange splatter logo is in the top left, with the album title in the top right in yellow text.

9. Aerobicide / Killer Workout (1987) (Category: Wild card) Perfect schlocky palate cleanser. Campy badness with an immaculate soundtrack. Sometimes you just gotta have this sort of thing. #KJHorror26
Poster for "Aerobicide" (as far as I can tell, the original title)

A chamber in the center (a tanning bed, though it's hard to say so if you don't know that) is emitting beams of light. Above, a fit (and busty) woman is seen from the crotch up to her shoulders, wearing a "RHONDAS WORKOUT" tank top. Below, in red with some lines above and below to frame it is "AEROBICIDE"

Shuffle Song of the Day #684: She's Perfect - Toby Keith #KJSSotD
Cover of "Blue Moon" by Toby Keith

Photo of Toby posed with a guitar in front of a wall that has a moon painted on it. He is wearing a white shirt and a white cowboy hat. The album title is written in a transparent font on the bottom half of the cover, with the artist name in between in white.

8. Eden Lake (2008) (Category: 2000s) Really not the vibe I was after, but these things happen when you try to go in blind. Effective, well done, but mostly just made me feel bad. Next one is going to be sillier, I think! #KJHorror26
Poster image for "Eden Lake"

A woman with short red hair (Kelly Reilly) is hiding behind a tree in the foreground while four shadowy figures stand in the background against a dark forest backdrop. The title of the movie is written in red in the bottom right portion of this landscape poster.

Shuffle Song of the Day #683: Wide Open Road - Missy Higgins #KJSSotD
Cover for the single "Wide Open Road" by Missy Higgins

A purple background (or border, if you prefer) with orange text wraps around a rectangle in the center that features a mushroom shape and large bits of the number "50" (at a glance it just looks like colors and patterns of orange, blue, white). Each side of the rectangle has a bit of text with the text on the left and right having its bottom line up with the inner rectangle (hence, the left side is written "up" and the right side is written "down"). The artist name is at the top, the single name on the right, and then "THE TRIFFIDS COVER" on the left and "MUSHROOM 50" on the bottom (this was a celebration of music that occurred in Australia in 2023).

7. We Are Still Here (2015) (Category: Barbara Crampton) Good stuff here. Creepy things, funny things, ghostly things. #KJHorror26
Poster for "We Are Still Here"

There is a country house near the bottom of the poster with a bright light emanating from the front door. The sky around it looks red (on fire?) with smoke above that shapes itself into three faces (a man, a woman, and a girl). The tagline at the top reads: "THIS HOUSE NEEDS A FAMILY."

The South by Southwest "SXSW" 2015 logo is seen in the bottom right, and some credits info is at the very bottom.

Shuffle Song of the Day #682: Contigo - Los Amigos Invisibles #KJSSotD
Cover of "El Paradise" by Los Amigos Invisibles

A black background with a neon sign in the center as the only cover element. The sign features blue, purple, red, and orange sections. There is a woman (no visible underclothing, but no visible under the clothing bits either) straddling a guitar with concentric circles behind (alternating blue/purple). Below her is the album title in the orange color in cursive of sorts (not the "EL"), with the artist name below in plain text in blue.

6. Case 39 (2009) (Category: 2009) I couldn't resist the allure of Renée Zellweger and I got some fun dreck in exchange. My brain was telling me that Ferland was from Silent Hill and it was correct. Not a great movie, but I was mostly entertained. Poor Bradley Cooper. #KJHorror26
A poster for "Case 39"

Black background with the title written in a ghostly white light in the top left cornerish. On the bottom half on the right is a woman (Zellweger, presumably, though it doesn't much look like her) holding a girl in her arms as they both look off in the direction of an incoming beam of light (perhaps from an opened door). There is a bit of spooky fog sort of hanging around that beam of light as well.

This does not have any release or credits info on it, though a similar poster exists for the US release with that on it....but it was released in the US in 2010 so I didn't use that one.

Shuffle Song of the Day #681: Somebody Groovy - The Mamas & The Papas #KJSSotD
Cover of "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears" by The Mamas & The Papas (written here as "MAMA'S" and "PAPA'S")

The foursome is seen posed in a bathroom, with Michelle Phillips laying across the other three who are seated side by side. They are all looking at the camera. At the top of the cover is the logo for Dunhill (the record label this was released on initially), with the album title below in plain black text and the artist name (with aforementioned apostrophes) below that in a dark red in a bigger size with the aforementioned parts in a bigger size font.

5. Oddity (2024) (Category: 2024) Really, really fun. There were a lot of good options for 2024 that I haven't got to yet, but I'm glad I ended up here. The leads were great. #KJHorror26
Poster for "Oddity"

A woman with short blonde hair is seen sitting at a table in an old looking house on the upper half of this poster, with a desk/call bell in between her arms which are outspread and resting on either side in front of her. Her eyes are closed in concentration and she is wearing a frock of sorts. The bottom half of the poster is a mirror of this image, but instead of the woman there is a creepy wooden figure with mouth agape in the same pose (no bell). Between these two figures is the title of the movie.

Shuffle Song of the Day #680: Things I Would Do - Cyndi Thomson #KJSSotD
Cover of "My World" by Cyndi Thomson

Photo of Cyndi leaning on her side in a field of grass with a blue sky behind her. She is wearing a flower print top and blue jeans and smiling as she looks off into the distance. There is a wicker basket in front of her that is full of apples. The album title is written in black next to her shoulder on our right, while her name is written across the middle (crossing a bit below her shoulders) in red.

4. Becoming (2020) (Category: 2020) I liked this one, good opening hook and when I saw Toby Kebbell I figured good things were on the way (Penelope Mitchell did not disappoint either). Ending lacked finality, but sometimes that's better. Some creepy stuff. #KJHorror26
Poster for "Becoming"

Close up shot of a human eye (bit of eyebrow above, visible eyelashes) where the reddish iris has split into two. The two pupils have images of the movie's stars in them (Toby Kebbell on the left, Penelope Mitchell on the right). Written in the space above the eye is the following tagline:

"YOU THINK YOU KNOW
THE ONE YOU LOVE . . ."

Below the eye are the names of the two aforementioned stars, as well as "JASON PATRIC," all written in white. At the bottom, the title is written in white with a faint red outline.

Shuffle Song of the Day #679: It Must Have Been Love - Roxette #KJSSotD
Cover of the single release for "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette (there are multiple single covers, but this is the one I use because it is better)

Photo of the duo standing in what might be a parking garage or similar structure, with two large openings visible in the background with a girder between them. Marie Fredriksson is on the left and is looking at the camera in a sheer low cut black top and black pants with a belt, while Per Gessle is seated (Marie is leaning on him slightly) looking down and to our right in a navy(?) jacket.

3. Campfire Tales (1997) (Category: 1997) Cromulent anthology that never really rose above that mark much. Livingston was fun, at least. #KJHorror26
Poster for "Campfire Tales"

Bit of a corny image for the bottom half with a generic looking dude standing behind a campfire either holding a hook or with a hook for a hand. There are trees on either side and a purplish night sky behind him. On the upper half is a plain black background with the movie title written at the top in red and with four fairly random looking headshots of people that are in the movie (left to right: Amy Smart, Ron Livingston, Christine Taylor, and James Marsden.

A brown/yellow/orange(?) background on which sits a slightly askew photo of a young child decked out in a showbiz suit complete with hat and wand. 2. 곡성 (Gokseong) / The Wailing (2016) (Category: 2010s) This one took a bit to grab me, lost me, grabbed me again, lost me, then managed to finish well enough and overall I liked it. Kwak Do-won (곽도원) and Kim Hwan-hee (김환희) were exceptional. Excellent humor. Glad I stumbled upon it! #KJHorror26
Poster for 곡성 (Gokseong) / The Wailing (2016)

Various images are overlaid over each other with varying transparency in mostly blue and copper hues. There is a man sitting by a lake fishing at the bottom of the poster, while above are a wounded man looking to the left, a woman looking askance in the bottom right, and a different man in the top right looking wistfully (perhaps?) to his right

Most of this poster is in Korean so I can't really write it all down, but there is an english bit at the top indicating that it was a selection for the Cannes Festival, and the release date is shown in the bottom right (2016. 05. 12).

1. Les Yeux sans visage / Eyes Without a Face (1960) (Category: Black-and-white) The score by Maurice Jarre was a highlight for me in this one, as was Edith Scob's performance. I'd been meaning to fill in this gap in my viewed list for a while, and it didn't disappoint. #KJHorror26
Poster for "Les Yeux sans visage"

An image of Edith Scob as Christiane is a the center of this poster, looking mournfully off to the side in a collared gown, while wearing the "face" mask from the film. To her right and down (in the bottom right corner) is an image of Pierre Brasseur as Dr. Génessier in a coat and scarf, using a chemical covered rag to incapacitate a woman as he looks down at her. The text at the top of the poster is in a pale yellow color, while the rest is in black. Additionally, the main body of the poster is almost all red and black, with bits of yellow and some brownish reds.

Giancarlo Dittamo posted this tribute to PAC on X:
The Apologetic Perfectionist.
That's how I'Il always remember Ben.
I want to share a story that goes all the way back to the day
AEW was first announced.
At the time, I was working for WWE. AEW had made its announcement in a parking lot across the street from where we were doing an event in Jacksonville.
Later that night I snuck out of my hotel to meet up with some friends who had just signed with this brand new company. I was so excited for them. There was something special about all of us being in the same city that night.
As we were walking across Jacksonville we ran into a bunch of the guys from 205 Live. Turns out they had snuck out for pretty much the same reason. They wanted to see their friend. Their friend was PAC.
I always thought that was such a funny little moment. Here we were sneaking around Jacksonville, just trying to see our friends.
But looking back, what I remember most is how much those guys loved and respected him. These were people who had worked alongside him, traveled with him and shared a locker room with him. And they were going out of their way just to see him.
Years later, I'd get to understand why.
I had the privilege of shooting many of PAC's promos over the years. From the Death Triangle to the Death Riders. If there was one thing about him, it was that everything had to be perfect.
Every word. Every little detail.
If we ever caught him on camera breaking character. He'd make sure that footage never saw the light of day. And then for the next few weeks he'd apologize for it.
"Carlo, I hope you understand. I hope you understand."Two weeks ago, we set up a little room to film interviews for Andy's memorial. Nothing fancy. Just a camera, a chair and a place where everyone could speak from the heart. No characters. Just people talking about someone they loved.
I sat across from Ben as he prepared to speak about Andy.
He came in. He knew exactly what he wanted to say. He sat down, delivered it with an emotion I had never seen from him and then immediately apologized and asked if he could do it one more time.
And there we were sitting across from each other, both crying. He kept apologizing. I kept telling him,'
"It's ok. This is all fresh. There's
absolutely nothing to apologize for right now.'
But he just wanted to get it right. He wanted it to be perfect. Not because he cared about how he looked on camera but because he cared so much about the person he was talking about.
I think that's what I'Il remember most about that moment. Here was a man who spent so much of his career protecting this Bastard character of his, sitting in front of a camera trying to find the strength to just be Ben and even when his heart was breaking, he was worried about getting it right. That's who he was.
I keep going back to that room two weeks ago. Two people sitting across from each other, crying over someone we'd lost.
Never in a million years did I imagine I'd be sitting here just two weeks later, trying to find the words to talk about losing him too.
And here I am, sitting here trying to write something perfect about someone who always wanted everything to be perfect. But I don't think I can.
I wish I could tell you one more time that you have absolutely nothing to apologize for and you were truly perfect. The perfect wrestler, friend and co-worker.
Carlo.
