It's increasingly hard to keep our wetlands wet through the hot dry summers. The lake has shrunk well below its normal levels and the small ponds have dried up. So we are starting to dig a reservoir on the lime grassland to store surplus winter rainwater. The Konik ponies are very interested!

We're very sorry that @thekingfishercafe.bsky.social and Visitor Centre are closed this weekend (7-8 February) due to staff shortages. The Reserve itself is open as usual, so do come for a walk, but bear in mind there will be no access to the facilities in the Visitor Centre.

🍂🪚🔥 Yesterday we welcomed onto the Reserve a brilliant volunteer work party of Environment Agency hydrologists, who helped clear and burn pollarded willow branches from the bottom of the Mound 👍💪 🙋👷‍♀️☕ Do you lead a team who'd like a volunteer day with us, in exchange for coffee & cake? Get in touch!
