The Fifth Amendment requires the government to pay just compensation when it "takes" someone's property for a public good. When an innocent person has their property damaged while police are pursuing a fugitive, the innocent person must be compensated.

Every cancelation in our database was a Flock contract, but we continue to monitor for cancelations of contracts with other ALPR providers as well.

In doing the research, we came across around 10 local governments that canceled their contract with one ALPR provider (Flock) and entered into a contract with a new provider (Axon). We do not count those in our list of cancelations.

The most common reasons we found for ALPR cancelations were: - Pushback from concerned citizens - Discovery of abuse by officers - Concerns over who can access the data - Budget restrictions/loss of funding

Seems like if you're going to use a tool to pull people over for stolen vehicles, thus leading to potentially dangerous encounters for both the driver and the cop, the tool should get it right at a percentage that isn't a D+ in high school.

Leo ended up canceling the marathon he was planning to run and cut his work trip short so he could return home. When he got back, he was greeted by damaged property and a puddle of blood from the workers. Leo no longer feels secure in his home because of this raid.

Leo watched this entire unconstitutional raid unfold on his Ring cameras from a hotel in Toronto. Over the cameras, he repeatedly told the CBP agents to get off his property or show him a warrant. They refused.

The agents came driving the wrong way down Leo's one way street, tried to break down Leo's 6-foot fence, and then jumped over it and chased the workers throughout the property. They damaged construction equipment, ac units and fences.

Last October, Leo Feler hired contractors to work on his Chicago home. When he was gone on a work trip, CBP agents stormed his property without a warrant and chased the workers. They caused $30K in damage to the property. Today, Leo teamed up with @ij.org to sue CBP over the warrantless raid.

Pottstown requires all renters to open their doors for inspections every two years, even if both the tenant and landlord do not consent to the search. While looking for code violations, officials can also alert other government officials of what they find.
