When I was assigned this piece to illustrate by Kaitlyn Gaulding, I had no idea that she was 12 years old. I assumed “After Every Game” was written by an adult. Great job, Kaitlyn! I do not doubt that we’ll be reading more of your fabulous writing in years to come. 👏@littlethoughtspress.com

A sweet little spot illustration I created for Kate Howell’s story, Pascha, for the Traditions & Rituals issue of Little Thoughts Press. Kate’s piece combines two universal childhood delights—staying up late and receiving a basket full of treats! @littlethoughtspress.com #kidlitillustration #kidlit

Happy National Poetry Month! Let's kick it off with a playful poem from Webb Smith featuring the kind of weather we've come to expect in April. "Cats and Dogs" by Webb Smith in Little Thoughts Press Issue 11: Stirring Words. accompanied by artwork from @kimwnolan.bsky.social
A poem called Cats and Dogs by Webb Smith accompanied by illustrations from Kim Wagner Nolan of cats and dogs falling down like raindrops.

Cats and Dogs By Webb Smith
It’s raining cats and dogs
Let’s grab our bathing suits
We’ll gambol while it pours
No need for bumbershoots

We’ll rollick, romp and run
With mud between our toes
The nimbus clouds have come
To wash away our woes

Behold the rhythmic beat
Of rain on metal bins
We’ll sing out loud and dance
While spinning widdershins

We’ll splash in billabongs
Like happy pollywogs
Come spend the day with me
It’s raining cats and dogs

Someone else's success in the publishing industry doesn't diminish your own chance of success. Boost fellow writers and illustrators. Try very hard not to compare yourself to others (I struggle with this, too). Focus on finding your own joy at your own pace. #Uplift
