A dark day for film and TV, and for Hollywood. The golden era of film is officially dead with this merger. And the important history of Hollywood might just die with it. Billionaires should never have unfettered access to monopolies over any sector, let alone the arts.

I'm reminded of something my 12th grade political science teacher taught us. People always vote with their pocketbooks. And I'd argue that extends to the culture we consume. People are realizing in real time who has the true power and social capital.

What these major changes don't take into account is how children aren't homogeneous in learning. By standardizing the education system, such changes disproportionately harm marginalized students, reinforcing existing and embedded discrimination within the education system (1/4)

I've been thinking a lot lately about my favourite fictional characters in some of my favourite novels, and I had to consider if there was a reason why Mr. Darcy and Mr. Thornton felt somewhat alike to me. Within this post, I consider why.

Lloyd Robertson was the voice in our living rooms every night, sharing the news and being a calm voice in a storm on the hardest days. Sending prayers to his family, friends, and everyone who worked with him. Rest in peace, Mr. Robertson. And thank you for sharing the news, and wisdom for life.

Somehow, these get more personal for me, but then, our favourite media tends to do that. Have you ever seen "Lost in Austen?" If not, I highly recommend you give it a watch. You might just fall in love with it, too. Oh, and give my thoughts on the series a read.

I'm so tired of all the media coverage of the Swift-Kelce wedding at MSG. On Twitter, it's been quite the topic of discussion. This is truly breads & circuses for the elites. As the world burns & heatwaves are at an all time high, media has been focused on this. The disconnect is vast on this one.

What I'm currently reading: an oldie, but a goodie. And my annual read. Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" gets better with every subsequent read. More than just a romance, it's a lesson on social norms, gender roles, class, wealth, status, power, independence & patriarchy. 5 stars for me #Booksky

What I'm currently reading: “A Latte Like Love,” by Michelle C. Harris. I'm a little late posting, so it's actually finished. For a debut, it was beautiful and gut-wrenching. It spoke about trauma, visible and invisible scars, family, death, grief, pain, loss, loneliness, legacy, and love #Booksky
