Yes! Thanksssss It's an heirloom beefsteak tomato named Sart Roloise. This was my first year growing it. One of the chefs from Chez Panisse does an annual tomato start sale and this is one of the heirloom varieties he offered.

It's been a relatively slow gardening summer, but the heat wave last week kicked some plants back into gear. Heirlooms ripened, strawberries ripening, peppers, and the surprise of all surprises is the tiny cukes that hadn't done anything until now. 🫨🌱

Heyyyyyy garden friends! I've been slacking on my garden posts. This is what's cooking lately; roses, saving seeds, and fermenting watermelon rinds with herbs and peppers from the garden. A little bit of heaven everyday. 💚🌱

Happy Monday garden friends! Today I took the few snips of rhubarb I picked on the weekend and cooked it down into this chutney. I added a fig leaf from one of my trees for a little extra flavor while cooking it down. The final result was tasty! Popping it in the freezer to store. #gardensky 🌱

FINALLY my Cherokee Green and Dirty Girl tomatoes are starting to ripen. It took them long enough but I'm so over the Bay Area weather fickleness. Let's gooooooooo 😍💚🌱

No it's more of a light vanilla flavor. I'm going to try a fig oil next and I also have been saving a recipe for fig leaf ice cream that is supposed to be delicious. I'm imagining the ice cream would be great sprinkled with pistachios.

I have two fig trees in the garden. The largest of the two is massive but I struggle with getting it to produce consistently. This year I decided to start harvesting the leaves for fig leaf syrup. Been drizzling it over ice cream and using in my morning coffee. 🌱

The perspective is a bit off here. This plant is a little bit under 3 ft tall now. I think it's been about a month since she was growing in a starter pot in the first pic.

An update on my cannabis grown from seed. 😯🙃💚

Heyyyyy garden friends! So, this summer I focused on planting my garden with a less is more approach, and using something from the garden at least once a day. The star of last night's dinner was this peach/tomato salad made w/tomatoes + basil I grew from starts. It was delicious! 🌱

Morning glories! A little morning picking in the garden before I sit down at my desk. My roses are going through their late summer flush and since it's the Bay Area, these tomatoes are JUST starting to take off. 😆🌱💚

Thanksssss trying to be more productive with all parts of my plants these days especially since I'm growing fewer things now.

It was really good! I made way too much so I'm glad I water bathed it so it can store longer.

It really is divine! Used a few more habaneros than the recipe called for but the final result was not too overly spicy. I had it yesterday with a bit of goat cheese and crackers and it was just 🤌🏾

This is a little garden brag or celebration day. Yesterday I decided to whip up this batch of raspberry/habanero jelly and used a batch of berries I grew this year, a cup from last year from my freezer stock, a cup of the homemade ACV I fermented last year, and store bought peppers + sugar.

Hello garden friends! It's been awhile but had to share this garden update. the butterflies have found my milkweed plant!!!! It's only the first year so I cannot be more excited. Looks like she's laying eggs. 🙌🏾💚🌱

Candied the peach this morning to make a topping for waffles and I know next year is gonna be great! This is such a good peach! 🌱

I'm so excited to try it! I just planted the tree this year and picked off all the buds but one to let it focus on root development. Glad I snagged this one before the critters! 🙌🏾

Watching the new Avatar movie on my flight and I'm not sure how I feel about them integrating a sacred Rapé ritual into this scene with the Ash People. This feels like Cameron did some fantastical cultural appropriation. 🤨

Heyyyyyy New Yorkers?? So I am feeling triggered. After ALL these years back and forth to NYC, today was the first time I took the LIRR from Penn Station to JFK and I know y'all been holding out. That was hella easy and dare I say faster and more convenient than a taxi or Lyft from Manhattan. 🤨😆🙌🏾

Happy Thursday garden friends! Well I decided to clean out my herb bed and pull up the "volunteer" potato plants and wouldn't you know it..I got more volunteers than the batch I intentionally grew in a grow bag. 🤨😂 A few other things blooming and growing too.

When I decided to write my own story, I made a deliberate choice not to hand it to a ghostwriter. I wanted to do the hard work myself. The first piece I wrote was "The Medicine". I'm deeply honored that The Medicine has been named a finalist for the 2026 Perkoff Prize by The Missouri Review.

My first mini harvest of this season was my grow bag of potatoes. Welp...I was was expecting more. 😭😆 But at least it is something. Everything else is just piddling along so far. Well except my roses as always.

Ok today is "supposed" to be a heavy writing day. But of course instead I chose to open a soil testing kit I've had for YEARS and do tests on all my indoor and outdoor potted plants. Procrastinating and blaming it on the plants! 😆🌱💚

Happy Saturday garden friends! We are having a rather mild start to the summer but the ground is clearly warming up slowly because the grass is growing and the few pepper plants I overwintered are producing. Picked a handful of peppers this morning on my garden walk. 🌱

Yes it does! I'm a chronic over planter admittedly. I think it needs a little bit of rearranging. I've done a bit this year but it's still hella lush. My hope is they can repurpose all my healthy stuff and open it up a bit.

Good morning garden friends! I'm just back home from a weeklong trip and this is what I'm staring at. A jungle-y mess! 😆😂😆 💚 I am promising myself that next year I'm hiring a garden professional to wrangle this space under control. But for now I'll be doing a little cutting and trimming myself. 🌱

Why aren't more folks screaming about how the increase in oil prices is impacting airline fares? The flights are high as hell even weeks out. Maybe folks are feeling it abs I just missed it?!!?! 🤔

Happy Monday garden friends! This weekend I spent some time in somebody else's garden not mine. 😉 Well actually it was a farm and not a garden. Let's just say my first visit to EarthSeed Farm's Black to the Land Family Day in Sebastopol was AMAZING! Highly recommend a visit if you can! 🌱💚

Happy Monday garden friends! Today I literally ran to the garden after my morning meetings to get some sun and do a bit of watering and cleanup. Today's gifts were a handful of things (thyme, parsley, rosemary, etc) from my herb garden to trim them down. Of course snipped some rose blooms too.

The "interesting" thing about the latest incident at the WHCD is the notion that journalists seem to believe they have the public trust when in fact they do not. I find that fascinating.

I'm rewatching the Chernobyl series on HBO, and the opening voiceover from Legasov resonates: "What is the cost of lies? It's not that we'll mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognize the truth at all."
