It's been a relatively slow gardening summer, but the heat wave last week kicked some plants back into gear. Heirlooms ripened, strawberries ripening, peppers, and the surprise of all surprises is the tiny cukes that hadn't done anything until now. 🫨🌱

Happy Monday garden friends! Today I took the few snips of rhubarb I picked on the weekend and cooked it down into this chutney. I added a fig leaf from one of my trees for a little extra flavor while cooking it down. The final result was tasty! Popping it in the freezer to store. #gardensky 🌱

I have two fig trees in the garden. The largest of the two is massive but I struggle with getting it to produce consistently. This year I decided to start harvesting the leaves for fig leaf syrup. Been drizzling it over ice cream and using in my morning coffee. 🌱

Heyyyyy garden friends! So, this summer I focused on planting my garden with a less is more approach, and using something from the garden at least once a day. The star of last night's dinner was this peach/tomato salad made w/tomatoes + basil I grew from starts. It was delicious! 🌱

This is a little garden brag or celebration day. Yesterday I decided to whip up this batch of raspberry/habanero jelly and used a batch of berries I grew this year, a cup from last year from my freezer stock, a cup of the homemade ACV I fermented last year, and store bought peppers + sugar.

Heyyyyyy New Yorkers?? So I am feeling triggered. After ALL these years back and forth to NYC, today was the first time I took the LIRR from Penn Station to JFK and I know y'all been holding out. That was hella easy and dare I say faster and more convenient than a taxi or Lyft from Manhattan. 🤨😆🙌🏾

When I decided to write my own story, I made a deliberate choice not to hand it to a ghostwriter. I wanted to do the hard work myself. The first piece I wrote was "The Medicine". I'm deeply honored that The Medicine has been named a finalist for the 2026 Perkoff Prize by The Missouri Review.

Happy Monday garden friends! Today I literally ran to the garden after my morning meetings to get some sun and do a bit of watering and cleanup. Today's gifts were a handful of things (thyme, parsley, rosemary, etc) from my herb garden to trim them down. Of course snipped some rose blooms too.

I don't usually make pesto but this parsley has been growing like crazy since last summer and someone suggested making pesto with it. Then I saw a few recipes for pesto with the dandelion leaves and decided to mix them. Gotta use everything I can on this plot of land and learn all the things.

I also saved as much of the dandelion roots as I could and have them soaking to release the dirt. My plan is to dry them down and grind for dandelion tea and bottle some up into small bottles with vodka to make tinctures.

Hi garden friends! Today's garden experiment was to turn "weeds" into something edible. Not quite weeds actually but dandelions that I dug up from my front yard. I mixed them with my over abundance of parsley from my herb garden and a few peppers that I overwintered and made a tangy pesto. 👌🏾

This season I am falling back in love...with my garden. Not that i ever fell out pf love with it. But last year I didn't do too much to it and let it rest. Ive been cleaning it up for the past month and it's just precious. I love it! 😆😍💚 Now I'm spending the rest of this Good Friday planting!

Ohhhhh I also started a THIRD batch of ACV just because 😆😩😂. I did have a few apples to use up that were going bad but I honestly just needed an excuse. Vinegar fermentation is fun!
