The wip, and also the original that I redrew this from! The original is still really, really good, but look how much I leveled up!

A wip of the previous picture. It is sketchy and is painted in grayscale to show a basic idea of the background and lighting.

The original piece that I drew back in 2008 or 2009. It is still incredibly good by any standard, but I felt I could do better!

A panel from my manga, Kuro Shouri. It is a black and white image of a teenage boy with outgrown hair. His face is scuffed up and bloody, and he is looking to the side angrily.

Hisaki's got the one big scar, Kakon has lots of smaller scars. Hisaki's was from someone trying to kill him, Kakon's was from torture. Hisaki is very ashamed of his scar and keeps it hidden at all costs. Kakon is repressing any and all feelings about his.

A sketch of our OC Hisaki and his scar. Hisaki is a teenage Japanese boy and here he is depicted shirtless, with a large slash scar across his torso from his right hip to his left shoulder. It looks like someone tried to cut him in half...because, well, they did.

A page from our comic depicting Kakon and his various scars. Kakon is also a teenage Japanese boy, but he has many scars from burns, surgery, slashes, etc. Poor kid went through a lot to get them.

I am suddenly rather curious: how does everyone feel about Hisaki's longer hair? I think only one person has told me how they feel about it, haha. If you hate it, you can still tell me - I promise I won't be offended! 😆 #kuroshouri

Our OC, Hisaki - a Japanese teenage boy character - with his more short hairstyle. My husband tells me it's a reverse mullet, lol.

Our OC Hisaki again, this time with his grown-out hair. His face is also a bit bloodied. PERSONALLY if you were to ask my opinion, I vastly prefer his longer hair! It's so much fun to draw!

My 9 albums - in my case, albums that I listened to a LOT during the years. Albums listed are: Evanescence - Fallen, Breaking Benjamin - Dear Agony, Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory, Backstreet Boys - Millennium, Blink-182 - Enema of the State, Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists, Papa Roach - Infest, Story of the Year - Page Avenue, and Three Days Grace - One-X. These are all awesome albums and though not necessarily my favorite from each artist, I listened to them the most.

The difference between a hungry drawing and a not hungry drawing, apparently 🤣 (today's drawing vs. yesterday's drawing) Like I said yesterday, nothing was super duper wrong with the sketch...but it's definitely not my best lol. Today's, I like much better. 😌 #art #kuroshouri #oc #ocsky

Today's drawing: a WIP from one of my comic pages, featuring our villain OC Touya. He's just shouting, nothing special. The sketch, when compared to yesterday's sketch, isn't super different (aside from being completed), but feels a lot more skillful and put-together.

Yesterday's sketch of the same villain OC, but unfinished and he's missing his glasses. Aside from the usual handful of mistakes, there's nothing that stands out as being obviously wrong...but it still don't look good.

This is the original. It's one of the few old art pieces I still have the full-size, fully-layered master file for. Which is pretty crazy!

My OC, Yasha (a teenage girl with long black hair), on her knees in the mud while it is raining. Unlike the redraw piece, this one is in full color, and shows details like her bloodied wraps around her hands and such.

Okay. I rested and found some energy to work a little. So I prepared some more old files for print. It's always weird going back to the remake for a Kakon scene. We spent so much time making him slowly become fun and likeable, it's funny going back to when he was a total butthead! #kuroshouri

A previously colored comic page from my webcomic, Kuro Shouri, now done up in screentones and ready for print. It shows two teenage boys losing an arcade game, and shortly afterward, one of them stares at his phone and tells his friends that he's going outside. They correctly assume he's going to be clingy and text his girlfriend. He does not like that they are correct.

Just kinda sitting here, feeling numb. I wish I could draw. Hubby keeps saying I should just do it anyway, but nooooo. My art looks like shit when I'm depressed. Like these old pages. 👇 Don't even have to say which one is the depression drawing and which one is the redraw. You can just tell. 😔

A comic page I drew during a bipolar episode. It shows two teenage boys in fantasy attire, walking together. One is complaining that he is hungry, and the other looks annoyed about it.
No care or love was put into this page. I knew it was bad, and I posted it anyway back then.

The same comic page, but drawn a couple years later when I was feeling normal and happy. It is considerably more polished than the original. Sure, it has some mistakes, but I tried my best with this one and it shows.

Anyway, Haru suddenly senses a lot of demons, and it's the soldiers Touya sent. There is a battle, and yeah, the sequence happens where Kakon takes the kunai attack mean for Haru. Only this time it's ultra serious, and in the comic, it's more comedic.

Ah. And then the scene where Kakon accidentally mentions Kijo in front of Haru. In this, Kakon just tells her to try and sense Kijo, instead of Touya. Hisaki quickly shushes him, just like in the comic. I feel like the comic was a bit more natural about it, though.
