I've always loved the idea of asymmetric competitive games since the first time I played L4D versus. I lost my shit when Evolve was first announced and played it obsessively, and since it died nothing has quite hit the same.

Ugh, so many job applications have started asking for a "short 2 minute video talking about X" - presumably as an AI application deterrent - but it feels so scummy. Fully enables profiling based on age, race, culture, appearance, etc, and it's a fucking slog to set up a camera to look professional.

I definitely stand by 30 being too low to be a standard. And I think it's a worthwhile thing to call out. That said, I'd put it more on Rockstar optimizing for fidelity > performance. This isn't the PS5 being too weak - it's Rockstar being expected to sell more than any game in history.

Aight, so here's a fun moral dilemma - I'm making an event poster and reached out to a photog to license his photo and get it in full res. He lets me know he lost the hard drive with the original, but would edit out the watermark for me. What I receive is an AI edited copy with obvious artifacts.

I getcha. Feels a bit "forest for the trees" though to blame other devs operating in their own best interests. No games success is guaranteed. Plus, a collective effort to raise the floor of expectations is just inflationary if it doesn't correlate with standard of living increases elsewhere

Not to imply indies shouldn't be making more money in general - but price tolerance isn't a function of the dev cost or input. If it was, we'd all be playing Concord right now. As shitty as it is, it's a marketplace with competitors who are happy to undercut you. Bit of a race to the bottom.
