Just some rando talking about stuff. Probably comics, Doctor Who, Star Trek or other things I'm a fan of... Banner is a cover detail from WANTED: THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS VILLAINS #4 by Nick Cardy.

I am this many stories shy of completing my run of Doc Savage Bantam reprints. I scored the last three omnibus editions today and these five books are all that remain.
A list of ten Doc Savage stories, two per book, that I have yet to collect: The Golden Man/Peril in the North; The Laugh of Death/The King of Terror; The Three Wild Men/The Fiery Menace; Devils of the Deep/The Headless Men; and The Goblins/The Secret of the Su. If you see these in the wild, let me know would you? This is the iconic cover painting for The Man of Bronze, the first Doc Savage adventure, by James Bama.

Watched DS9 "Vortex". We get the first focus on Odo & it sets up a character with a lot of mystery. Never did fully understand why Croden initially attacked the Miradorn raiders, but may have missed the explanation. If TOS was Wagon Train in Space, this was Gunsmoke in Space. #StarTrek #DS9

Dr Doom confronts his daughter Medusa who is piloting their evil Eyegore Estate mansion after making it a robot because the Dr wouldn't buy her a new car.

Dr. Doom: "A new car? On a Mad Doctor' salary? In THIS economy? Are you Crazy?"

Medusa "Yeah! Crazy about my new ride! Or should I call it..."

Thr gag gets a punchline in the next panel.

Watched Star Trek Deep Space 9 episode "The Passenger". It's a pity that Bashir's first featute episode sidelines him for so much of the episode. The Odo-Starfleet security conflict seemed a bit artificial. I was surprised to see Quark so firmly in illegal activity, he'd seemed so far to be

Watched DS9 "Captive Pursuits". While nominally a riff on "The Most Dangerous Game" which has been filmed and based on a lot over the years, the fun in this is the character bits. O'Brien and Tosk, Quark and O'Brien, Odo at the promenade and his 'slow pursuit'. A lot of fun. #StarTrek #DeepSpace9

Honestly the stuff as shown in the video is fine. You can't enter every house, so following npcs is pointless - an illusion to support the game play. I like day/night cycle stuff (clubs open at night, stores open in day) that support the illusion. But otherwise...

Post a hero on drugs....
Cover to Hit Comics #19 by Reed Crandall and Max Elkan.

Stormy Foster punches what appears to be Nazis on a ship sailing under a green skull & crossbones. He holds one Nazi in the air by the leg. One lies unconscious on the deck.

Stormy was the third major character (that I'm aware of) in GA comics to use drugs regularly for superpowers (after Hourman and Blue Beetle). His special Vitamin concoction gave him superhuman strength, speed and stamina. He also had a gas gun of his own design. Unlike Hourman, the Foster stories were inconsistent on how much time he had his powers for.

Text on the cover reads 'Staring "Stormy Foster" The Great Defender' and 'Also Hercules, The Red Bee, Don Glory, Betty Bates, Lion Boy'

Page from THE GOLDEN AGE #4 by James Robinson and Paul Smith

Panel 1: in the foreground Jonathan Chambers and Tubby Watts continue filming. In the distance Dynaman and the Human Bomb trade blows in the middle of an explosion. Chambers narrates "I didn't think it'd be like this. Didn't... think...So many fallen...I film...I see...I see Dynaman and the Human Bomb trade Explosive punches."

Panel 2: a close up of Chambers face, illuminated by explosions as he uses his hand to shield his eyes.
Chambers continues "Twenty blows into the fight...I see the victor..."

2nd narrator "So Many Fallen..."

Panel 3: Dr Midnight, with no goggles on stands amid rubble with his hands stretched in front of him.

2nd narrator: "Without his goggles, he cannot see. Without them, he is useless. Dr. Midnight, a blind man...desperate not to stumble."

Panel 4: a close up of the Red Bee dead, his head in a pool of water. Blood runs from his temple.

2nd Narrator: "Once, during the war, the Red Bee had a strange dream where he died. Seven years later it comes true."

Panel 5: Doll Man sits with his head down on the Guardian's shield. His arm is dislocated if not broken; one of his legs appears pinned under the Guardian's arm.

2nd Narrator: "Doll Man...broken...like a china namesake..."

Panel 6: Dynaman grabs Jonathan Law / The Tarantula from behind around his neck and head.

2nd Narrator: "Jonathan Law's last thought..."

Panel 7: A close up of Dynaman with a cruel smile on his face as he breaks Law's neck with a 'snap' sound effect

2nd Narrator: "...is what a great book this would have made."

I bought it not at start (I subscribed to Starman and Primal Force out of Zero Hour) but picked it up after they revamped it some (maybe after they announced the Book of Fate relaunch). My general thought was it was a good, fun 90s comic but a poor fit for the legacy of Dr. Fate.

Saw #Supergirl and enjoyed it pretty well. Good character arcs for the two lead characters and some of the set pieces had interesting takes on fighting with superpowers that made me take notice. Villain was hissable so the final confrontation was welcome. Lobo is fun in a support role.

Bagging some paperback copies I got from Erle Stanley Gardner's Cool and Lam series (published under the pen name, A. A. Fair) and noticed one of them was a mapback. Neat! #vintagebook #mapback
Cover to Erle Stanley Gardner's Cool and Lam story FOOLS DIE ON FRIDAY, published by Dell (for 25¢) using the pen name A. A. Fair.

Text above the title reads "Get Your clothes on -- just enough to cover yourself and get out of here"

The art (I don't know the artist) shows a man in a dark suit coat and tie in the foreground (half off the edge of the cover) facing the reader but eyes cutting to the side where a red headed woman is getting dressed. She has an unbuttoned bright green blouse, muted light green gloves and is zipping up a brown skirt over a half slip. Map back cover to the Dell copy of FOOLS DIE ON FRIDAY by Earle Stanley Gardner (writing as A. A. Fair).

Text reads "Hired to prevent a murder, Cool and Lam unwittingly aid a killer in a thrill-charged case involving real clues and red herrings". This is above text that reads "A Dell Book".

Below this is the "map" portion, showing locations important to the story with a key that names those 4 locations.

If you see this, drop a hero with a sword!
Publicity still for the short-lived adventure series ADAM ADAMANT LIVES! A show created by Sidney Newman and Verity Lambert in an attempt to catch lightning in a bottle again (as they had with DOCTOR WHO).

Gerald Harper plays Adam Adamant, an Edwardian era dashing hero who ends up in 60s London after he is frozen by his nemesis after foiling an assassination.

Juliet Harmer plays Georgette Jones, a swinging 60s nightclub employee who finds Adam when he thaws from the icy end his arch-villain intended would kill him. She befriends Adamant and assists him in his fight against his enemies and other evil plots.

The car is, I think, a 1965 Radford Mini De Ville.
