I was not prepared for overnight frost. The trees are still entirely green by me. I'm as confused as they are.

Wait, so, how did they make the obelisk in the first place-- not to mention the room they're training in-- if their tools can't cut their hardest stone?

Trust me, NJTransit kills any reasonable joy for daily commuting from NJ to NYC. I lived in Manhattan, then Queens, and the subway could be annoying. I even did a reverse commute on LIRR to Garden City for a bit, which had its issues. But NJT at rush hour is, quite simply, the worst.

I see Frangelico is hanging with Amarula these days. I remember a time when he and Mrs. Butterworth were inseparable. (Or, at least, indistinguishable.)

And again I ask: why would you publicly swear to steal the ducal signet ring? Isn't the value in forging the Duke's signature using the ring? If everyone knows it's you, the Baron, signing stuff with the ring...how does that help you?

Urrrggg... Job I can't pin down continues its weirdness. He asked for references BEFORE the final round. But now he's gone silent on scheduling the reference calls. I hate that this is me right now.

Pretty certain our payroll vendor did just that. Their CEO bragged about being all in on AI. Then they completed our quarterly payroll filings and marked them as filed in our client portal. But they never actually filed them. 😲

I mean, I adore coleslaw. So I've eaten cabbage before. It'd just be WAAAAAY too much coleslaw for one person to eat.

Gotcha! Good advice. I just found an apple & cabbage salad recipe, with onions, carrots, mustard, and apple cider vinegar. It's sauteed-- a warm salad --but I could probably only lightly cook it. I'm getting braver from y'all's advice.

Where does that subtitle come from? The event description doesn't align with it. It seems really off.

Interesting. I can't do spicy, or tomatoes...but, what's the texture like in soup? The cabbage is the one thing I used to always leave uneaten in Chinese restaurant soups, cause it's all slimy and mushy. 😂

Anyone have any good vegetarian & gluten free cabbage recipes? My shopper apparently wasn't familiar with iceberg lettuce. 😂

Yes! Erika Alexander glows gorgeousness right out through the damn screen. These fools are too goofy to realize the show was not even intended for them and their nonsense ideas of beauty and manliness. Sheesh.

I had a little sum from a job ending that I wanted to invest, in order to understand trading better. Already had a checking account with Chase, so I used their brokerage option. But it turns out I don't want to trade. So the money just sits there, like an IRA. It works fine. I'm learning a little.🤷‍♀️

I sent my resume to the CEO on LinkedIn anyway. Fuck it. I spent all that time for nothing, it's not like annoying the CEO will make it worse! What an absolute farce. (And this is the 3rd or 4th time I've had this happen.)

Researched the company and started my application prep over the weekend. Finished polishing my resume today. Then...submit button doesn't work. Try again, try again. Go back to main jobs page: job is gone. BuiltIn shows as "this listing is no longer open". Can I bill them for my time?! 😂

The job they posted on Friday afternoon was ALREADY FUCKING CLOSED before I could hit "submit" on the application. 🤣🤣🤣 You can't make this shit up.

I've never experienced such extractive, one-sided application and interview processes. Hours of prep and invasive personal disclosures before you even SPEAK to anyone at the company. No wonder I hate applying. It's like enrollment for humiliation and insult.

Job searching has always been tough. But this search feels different. It's a demoralizing morass. Every company wants 32 year olds with 3 years at Bain Capital or McKinsey. Earned skills and knowledge are SO disregarded. Having done the same job before somehow isn't a qualifier.

That's my example, too, and at about the same age, and with older sisters. But it was pre-VHS for us, so it must have been on channel 11 or something. "It's all for you, Damian!"

Star Trek and snoring time, once again. Going with Too Short a Season. My favorite scene is when Karnas cries out, "Didn't I love him, Gooch? My own flesh I don't love better!"
Actor Michael Pataki as Karnas in the Star Trek The Next Generation episode "Too Short a Season". Keen eyes will recognize him as JC from the MST3K-lampooned film Sidehackers.

Oh, and if you're looking for the ascerbic verbal antics of bored married academics, just go with Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. There's a reason it's a classic. (It's better every time I watch it. Especially as I age.)

The Blackening was a lot of fun. Definitely worth a spooky season watch. Shirley was ok. I wouldn't bother with it. If you want a powerful, honest look at womanhood, watch Diane with Mary Kay Place. If you want terrifying literary origins, watch Gothic with Natasha Richardson.

Doritos and a Butterfinger used to be my headache cure. I discovered it on a 5-hour layover in the Albany NY bus station. The solo newsstand wasn't open. But there was a vending machine.
