I used to host a very popular show about mental health. It won the Webby for Best Comedy podcast, to the surprise of the comedy podcasts. Got laid off, show got canceled, 6 years pass, I BUY THE SHOW and am reviving it, starting with update episodes. This one is very moving and super funny.

Still thinking about the Luddites I came across this. How fascinating it is to watch what might be the germ of a neo-Luddite movement around surveillance technology. And a guy writing a nudge-wink, fuck-the-man, banger of a country song makes me feel American in a way that for once isn’t pejorative.

Redford would have turned 90 today. “All the President’s Men” (1976) owes its existence to him; he bought the film rights, developed a script and cajoled a reluctant Woodward & Bernstein. I thought it was “a great character study,” he said later — but for months, “they didn’t return my calls.”

Posting culture wants writers to compress. Sometimes we end up with a setup/punchline combo that elides deep research &/or lived experience. Unfortunately posting culture also buries truncated but valid perspectives in an avalanche of reflexive shitposts that take the same form.
