Today’s USDA Weather Highlights noted that remnants of Hurricane Polo could bring 1 to 4 inches or more of rain to the Four Corners, with locally excessive rainfall possible. Tropical moisture interacting with a cold front will also boost rainfall across the central and southern Plains.

According to today’s USDA Weather Highlights, significant rain from the southern High Plains to the Red River Valley is boosting soil moisture and improving rangeland and pastures. The rain is especially welcome in Oklahoma, where 81% of topsoil was rated very short to short as of Sept. 27.
