#dRAWRtober day 2: On the deep, deep dark. I had fun with this. It’s watercolor paper that I coated with Nicker poster color in black and the designs are in pentel color changing gel pens that are super fun! It’s a silly little doodle but it was nice to play around and have fun.
The main focus of this image is an abstracted/simplified deep sea doodle featuring an eel, some corals, tiny red critters, and ominous tendrils. The materials used to make the doodle are featured as part of the background.

Trying my hand at an October art challenge. I saw the prompts earlier for #dRAWRtober and they seemed fun so here is my Day 1 for Legs, Legs, Legs!
A pink monochrome sketch of a centaur lady wearing a long scarf. The sketch is done in colored pencil and Precise V5 pen.

Saw a familiar face while buying ingredients for soup.
A cookie jar on a shelf at the store. It is a black cat wearing a pumpkin. The feet and head of the cst are visible and the pumpkin is a classic Jack o lantern. The cats face resembles Mae Borowski from the game Night In The Woods.

WIP is coming along nicely! I’m not sure that the text is visible enough. I may go back and add a back stitch or something to make it pop a little.
A cross stitch WIP on black Aida fabric. Some words are visible in red text over the central image of The Matrix of Leadership which is done in greys, golds, and blues. The quote will eventually read “BE STRONG ENOUGH TO BE GENTLE”

Working on the first of a couple of pieces that will be in a local charity sale later this year to benefit a local cancer center. The theme is Harvest of Hope and this cross stitch will eventually be the matrix of leadership and “Be Strong Enough To Be Gentle”.

Another project done. It didn’t take long enough to post WIPs.
A crochet tapestry piece with the words “Don’t Carry It All” in an old English font and a cream colored yarn. The background is mossy green with puddles of a dusty medium blue and a darker blue accent for depth. The border is done using single crochet, moss stitch, and triple (uk double treble) stitch to look like a frame in a deep gold with light yellow accents.

I am pleased to announce that Choir Practice has been shipped and I can share the final images! Please check out @loadingreadyrun.com and @desertbus.org if you're not already familiar, they're good folks and its a great cause. Pattern attached is free/pwyw. #crochet #silksong ko-fi.com/s/54415b9004
The Fourth Chorus (Silksong boss) looms ominously behind Hornet (protagonist) in this crochet tapestry piece. The tapestry hangs on a brick wall and a sliver of my back yard is visible to one side. The sunlight shining on the work is dappled towards the bottom of the image adding to the spooky vibe of the subject matter.A closeup of the blanket on my couch. You can see the spiky (triangle picot stitch), some overstitching, and some of the details of the tapestry up close. This is a closeup of the border specifically. This is the same as the first image but there is an interesting camera effect that makes it look hazy with a couple of smoky rainbows visible towards the bottom of the photo.

It is “finished” but not yet complete. I still have to wash, block, and do final trimming before I can take photos. This blanket weighs about 15lbs, 78k stitches (not including the trim), took about 300 hours to make, and used approximately 5k yards of yarn. #Crochet #Silksong
A crochet tapestry/blanket featuring Hornet (Silksong) suffering defeat at the hands of The Fourth Chorus in the Far Fields arena where the fight takes place. The border is a combination onf overstitching on the base blanket, double(uk treble) crochet, and a triangle picote trim. A closeup of Hornet’s cape and the deep green that features heavily in the overall design and represents the lush greenery of Far Fields. This image also offers a closer view of the trim. A different view of the trim with a closer look at the horizontal likes that represent the greenery and red-hot stone of the area and the orange vertical lava flows also prevalent in the area. A closeup of the trim, this is a very detailed shot of the triangle picote stitch (brassy color), the double/treble stitch (brown central stitch), and over stitched slip stitch that make it up.

I stayed up entirely too late but it was worth it! The tapestry part of the blanket is complete. This will likely be the last post for a while as I add the finishing touches and ship it off for the next stage of its journey. I’m so excited 💖
The finished tapestry (minus the final border) for the Choir Practice blanket. This is a crochet piece featuring Hornet (Silksong) suffering defeat at the hands of the Fourth Chorus. I can’t believe it is almost complete. I have 8 rows left of the tapestry work then maybe a day or so to weave ends, trim, add border, and wash/block/dry!!! #DB2026 #CraftAlong #Silksong #TapestryCrochet
A crochet WIP featuring Hornet (Silksong) being defeated by The Fourth Chorus. The background is a mix of horizontal green and red stripes, vertical stripes of orange and red, and a field of green all meant to represent the Far Fields biome where the fight takes place. The back side of the previous image. The working yarn balls are visible and the ends that have not been woven or trimmed are there as well. The image it depicts is mirror from the other picture.

Only 104 rows to go and I can’t believe I’m still a few days ahead of schedule. Things should move quickly for the next few rows and will slow back down a bit once I get to the Chorus’s crown of thorns. I am so excited about how it’s turning out!

Enjoyed a nice day coloring and hanging out with my sister and the niblings. These are from a cheap dollar store coloring book but they’re so neat and fun!
A coloring book page of a tiger with stylized flowers and clouds. The tiger is a rainbow gradient done with colored pencil and crayon. The clouds and flowers are outlined in marker. There is a glowing radiant effect on the tiger also done in marker. A color page of a snow globe that contains a cosmic turtle gliding through galaxies among planets, stars, and flowers. The turtle is colored with pencil and crayon in traditional shades of greens and yellows. The flowers and stars are various shades of purple, pink, blue, and yellow with some green thrown in for the leaves. The words “The Turtle Moves” are hand written in blue ink below the image. A tattoo style coloring page featuring hands making a heart shape, roses, orchids, lilies, and a scroll that reads “True Love Never Dies”. The hands are flesh tones, the roses are antique (yellow with red tips), the lilies are yellow, the orchids are purple, and the background is blue. This piece is also done in pencil and crayon.

A crochet WIP that will eventually be a blanket. It depicts horizontal stripes of green and red, the beginnings of a round metal body, and vertical stripes of orange (representing lava) with the red and green horizontal stripes in between them. Grits. It’s about $5 for a bag that will make several meals worth. You can eat them plain or add just about anything to make them fancy. Breakfast for dinner was a staple for me back when you didn’t have to sell a kidney to buy a pound of bacon or a carton of eggs. Grilled cheese is a close second.

I’m a few days late in announcing but I’ve been accepted for the #DesetBusForHope #Craftalong again this year! I’m so excited to be part of such a cool event and looking forward to spamming progress pics over the next couple months. This is the design I decided on. Working Title: Choir Practice.
A pixel art piece depicting Hornet (the protagonist from Silksong) suffering a defeat at the hands of The Fourth Chorus (a mandatory and insufferable boss fight from Act 1 of the game). The background is a simplified representation of the arena in which you fight the beast. I just finished this #Crochet sweater for my nieces birthday. It’s not washed or blocked yet but I love how it turned out! I wasn’t sure the idea would work when it first came to me but now I’m planning one for myself in a different color scheme.
The front of a crochet sweater. The sleeves are each varying stripes of black and white with some red accents on the left sleeve. The right side is made of granny squares in red, white, and black and the left is red and black checkers. The trim along the front and collar is in the same color motif with triangle pico edges in black. The back of the sweater featuring a panel of varying hounds tooth in the red, white, and black motif as well as a panel of wave stitch in the same colors. This also shows the back of the collar which shows the left and right sides changing color at the middle.

I think this is it. I decided against a dither effect to represent the silk explosion that happens when you die. I haven't submitted, much less been approved. so I am still open to feedback for the time being. This will eventually be a tapestry crochet blanket for Desert Bus For Hope.

Enough of the Onion Lord, time to focus on the important things: This year's Craftalong project. I was going to go with the simple chevrons in The Panalysst colors but then inspiration struck and I came up with a tapestry idea. What are your thoughts? #DesertBusForHope #crochet #WIP
A series of bright colors on a cream background in a chevron pattern. The lines vary from all the colors touching to each one separated by a stripe of cream. This would eventually become a crochet throw blanket in the same chevron pattern. A pixel art image depicting Hornet (the protagonist of Silksong) dying to The Fourth Chorus . If you know you know and if you don't it is a hulking creature made of brass and steel, with massive glowing eyes and a crown of spikes. Its body consists of a large brass sphere with filigree and an ovoid thorax. Four spindly arms protrude from its back. You have to defeat this to continue the game. Its a mandatory boss fight which is totally cool and fair...

The 90s and early 00s iterations of Yumion, a large onion wearing overalls. In the right side of this image the overalls are rolled up to expose boots and a pair of red and white stockings. Considering I had basically 48 hours to throw this together and only about 6 to get it painted I am okay with how it turned out. And I got paid for technically defacing public property which is also cool.
A very rough outline of a squarish object surrounded by a bright blue sky and clouds. This is the beginning of a mural but the base sketch is not very visible. This is the same mural but now you can see shaped of flowers and a bird beginning to form. A dark cool toned green background has been added inside the squarish shape. The bird inside the squarish shape is now painted with its base color of a deep rust brown with white and dark violet accents. Its wing is bursting out of the top right side of the squarish shape while foliage spills out of the bottom left of the same shape. The flower shapes are now purple and stalks and bright warm green leaves have been added. There are also a few darker/mid tone leaves framing the top and sides to even things out. This is the final product. It is a mural that depicts a Polaroid style frame on top of a blue background full of clouds. There is a bird that is the main focus of the image and it is flying with a blueberry in its mouth. The wings are a brighter foxy red now with the same purple and white contrasting designs. The hydrangeas behind the bird are now covered in lighter tiny flowers. Text at the bottom of the image, in very poor handwriting, says “Brown Thrasher” which is the type of bird depicted. It is the state bird of Georgia and I think they’re cool bc they have whiskers.

I was coerced into painting a mural Saturday and this is my very rough proof of concept. I’ve never painted a mural before and am woefully underprepared.
A digital art piece featuring a brown thrasher (bird) in flight, holding a blueberry in its beak. There are blueberry bushes and hydrangea (puffy blue flowers) bushes and miscellaneous foliage in the background. This image is framed like a Polaroid picture but the bird and some of the bushes are breaking out of the confines of the frame. The backdrop behind it all is a bright blue sky with clouds.
