Another highlight was this common whitethroat, a lifer for me

I went on a walk in the hopes of seeing a skylark today (no luck), but was instead graced by a crow on this very nice dead tree. Definitely my favorite crow pic so far! 🪶 #birds #voegel
Black and white photo of a crow perched on a dead tree. Cobwebs can be seen between individual branches. The crow's head is turned. The background is very blurry.

I'm back, and I have brought birbs not the fluffy, moving type, but the one that's made out of polymer clay and acrylic paints! #birds #polymerclay #sculpture
A small collection of stylized bird figures made out of polymer clay.
The two large ones are wearing wool hats and scarves and are modelled after a Eurasian wren (left) and an eastern bluebird (right).
The three very small figures in front are inspired by (from left to right) a common redstart, a European robin, and a Eurasian bullfinch.
They are all painted with bright, saturated colors.

Sometimes I make really weird, really niche things that will likely never sell but I love them! Take this galaxy themed fantasy Isopod with glow in the dark stars, for example :D #isopod #pillbug #bugs #entomology #polymerclay #weirdstuff #artistsofbluesky #ididathing

We covered the illustrious topic of borbs, so now it's time for another favorite genre of mine: Birds staring directly into the camera #birds
A male blackbird screams at the camera. Its head is slightly tilted to our left, and its beak is wide open as it loudly announces its displeasure at the intrusion into its territory.
The blackbird is entirely black, with the exception of its yellow beak and skin surrounding its eyes.A european robin stares down the camera with a rather astonished look.
Its face and throat are orange, its belly is white and the feathers covering its wings and back are grey-ish brown.A long-tailed tit displays the ultimate combination of bird's best traits: Borbness and goofiness. Its feathers are all puffed up, particularly towards its belly, giving the impression that the bird wears flared pants.
The long-tailed tit is mostly white, with some black markings on top of its head. Its upper eyelids are yellow. It has a very short black bill.A great egret goes for maximum goof. Its neck is so long it eventually leaves the frame in the bottom right corner.
The egret is all white, with a yellow bill and green-ish parts around its yellow eyes.

Another one from the archives, this one is from late July. I had a great day out in the snow today, and even managed to add a new species to the list: The common redpoll! I'll hopefully get around to posting about it soon!

Mother grebe drops off a fish before going on the hunt for more. Juvenile great crested grebes are frequently carried on the back of a parent - even when diving for food. At around 10-11 weeks old they begin to hunt on their own. #birds
Photo of two relatively large birds on the water. They are mostly brown, and their long necks and faces are white with brown or orange decorations in the collar area. Both adults have dark brown crests on their heads. Looking closely, the head of a juvenile can be seen between the two adults, accepting a small fish from the adult on the right. The juvenile's feathers have a black and white pattern.

I promised jumping spiders so here we go! I came across this young male E. arcuata in the forest back in August. That inquisitive glance upwards gets me every time! #ento #invertebrates
Macro photo of a small jumping spider on a blade of grass. It has raised its head to look up, and white reflections of the camera's flash diffusor can be seen in its 3 visible forward-facing eyes. The spider is darkly colored, with a black body, brownish legs and some white and yellow hairs on its face. The background is blown out and a few brighter blobs of yellowish green can be seen where sunlight illuminates leaves.

Alright #birds feed, for those feeling like playing along we’ve got another theme! This rec came from @glendunlap.bsky.social… show us two or more species in a single shot! Kicking off w/ the holy trinity of Pacific Northwest backyards: a house finch, an Anna’s hummingbird, and an American crow🪶
Branches with three birds perched on them: a crow, a finch, and a hummingbird

The dynamic duo striking poses! Great spotted woodpecker with its great tit sidekick from fall last year. Loving these themes! #birds
Photo of two birds on a dead tree. They both strike a pose, raising their heads and looking off to opposite sides.
The bird perched on top, a great spotted woodpecker, shows us its white belly and red rump. Its head and throat area has black markings and the back of its red has a characteristic red patch.
The smaller bird at the bottom, positioned in the shade of the branch, is a great tit. The front of its body is yellow with a black stripe running down the middle. Its face is black with a white cheek.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I'm already in love with this place. So much positivity and friendliness. I noticed a critical issue though: The lack of #isoposts. Take this common woodlouse as my contribution toward a greater good! #invertebrates #ento
Macro photo of a common woodlouse facing the camera. Its segmented body is mostly a brownish grey which turns brighter towards the edges of the segments. Bright, yellowish patches are scattered throughout its armor. The woodlouse has black compound eyes and segmented antennae.
And yes, that's probably a piece of poop on top of it, just out of focus.

I love them so much! They're so active and always on the move. I hope to come across a gang of them this winter too, they're just too cute when they're floofed up

Ha, swans sure are intimidating sometimes. Especially if they originate in the land of NOPE lol Whenever I see one, "this thing can break your arm" involuntarily pops into my head. Not sure if that's actually true but I'm inclined to believe it!

Hah that's so on brand for robins! So sassy! And wow, that sounds really interesting. I'd love to explore other habitats and see completely unfamiliar bird species some day. And yes, tits are such great birds too. Long-tailed tits are my personal favorites, such funny and active little fellows

Thank you! It's been a blast so far! Robins are definitely some of my favorites. They're so full of personality and most of my really close encounters have been with robins. Some of them don't seem to mind the presence of a human at all!

My first post on bluesky! I'm a passionate photographer of all things birb and other small critters like isopods and jumping spiders, based in southern Germany. My first post is dedicated to one of my favorite genres of birbs: BORBS. Only the floofiest of floofs! #birds
Photo of a European robin perched on a wooden fence. It is of exquisite floofness, at least an 8/10 on the scale of borbness.
Its feathers are mostly brown, with a darker shade on its dorsal side and a lighter shade on its belly. Its most striking feature is its orange-red throat and face.Photo of a chaffinch all borbed up, perched on a small stick running vertically through the frame. I would rate it a solid 9/10 on the scale of borb.
The bird's front is mostly covered in brown feathers, its head capped by grey feathers. Its wings are darker shades of brown and black, with white and yellow highlights mixed in. The chaffinch has a beige bill.Photo of another European robin perched on a fence pole in the golden light of sunset. It is turned sideways to face to our left. It is of decent floofyness, rating an encouraging 6/10 on the borbness scale.Photo of a long-tailed tit perched on a mossy branch. The floofness of this specimen is literally off the charts. Rating it would be inadequate and only lead to insult against the outstanding roundness of this borb.

The long-tailed tit has a white underside with some cream or pink hues mixed in, and its head and back feature blacks and dark greys. Its tail feathers are extremely long in proportion to its body. It has a short, black bill and strikingly yellow upper eyelids.

#addBirder Hi, I finally arrived to bsky and I'd love to join this community! Also have this beautiful jay!
Photo of a Eurasian jay, an about crow-sized bird perched on a fence pole. Its feathers are mostly a light shade of brown, with some black and white towards its tail and on its wings. It also has a black "mustache". The jay's most striking feature are the few brilliantly blue feathers on the its wings.
