ChatGPT for Teens started when a bright-eyed lad with a business degree got off the bus from Muncie, IN and got a job as a mailer daemon at OpenAI. His big break came when he showed Sam A. the paper he carried in his pocket, which had only: 🤮 “You know, for kids!” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/07/t...

Why My Conversations with OpenAI’s ‘ChatGPT for Teens’ Made Me Very Worried (Gift Article)

A new mode includes a study tool, but it still does a user’s homework. And a children’s safety nonprofit says the chatbot flunked its tests.

This is applicable to a lot of MAHA & MAGA paranoia — they’re looking for someone to blame for their family’s situation, and Trump & Co. are all too willing to lie to them

She has really solid values and an incredible work ethic; I can see her doing a great job representing the needs of upstate NYers, despite being from the city. So, reluctantly, I am willing to share her with the good people of Utica

One thing I noticed in this article: it says that 1) his pre-2022 articles were flagged by Pangram as 100% human and 2) the input to Pangram included all dates in the original text. So I wonder if Pangram’s model “knows” when ChatGPT debuted

Too many people online seem to conflate left politics with being obnoxious and scathing and Mamdani is such a model for combining a principled ideological vision with civility and grace. You shake hands, you act like a grown up even whether others aren’t. You show up.

Hegseth and whichever under/assistant secretaries have ordered these extrajudicial killings ought to be impeached. The admirals who gave orders to execute this “operation” should be court-martialed. I have called my representative and senators to tell them this, and you should too

The arguments against impeaching Trump next year are all bad and spurious, but they're even weaker as applied to all the other impeachable members of the Cabinet, etc. And impeaching Hegseth for literal murder should be top of the list.

The problem with Terry Pratchett’s oft-quoted “boots theory” is no boots will ever last a lifetime. There are, rather, boots that will last if you pay a cobbler to replace the soles, insoles, laces, etc. on a regular basis. Ignoring the lifetime maintenance costs is an economic fallacy
