The democratization angle is a rare good upside but my worry is that we are heading to a Kafkaesque place where people can't understand their lawyer's AIs defence and are represented against an indecipherable AI judge.

Ala Thinking fast and slow, in life I'm constantly trying to juggle the gut versus evidence thing in work. Without discounting data, my biggest mistakes have all been ignoring my gut. Indecision is far more often worse than the wrong decision. www.zmescience.com/medicine/min...

I maintain a map of Scottish art galleries just for myself. Hilariously, at ~13k visits a month and loads of thank-you emails, it gets more traffic than the work initiatives I actually plan. I believe this is called 'market pull' www.scotland.art

In the war on man-made slop– still the most pressing threat– algorithms are an ally.. how much of Hollywood.. will retain its allure once AI is ventriloquising it to perfection? .. We will crave instead culture to look and feel weird, opaque, messy - Igor Toronyi-Lalic web.archive.org/web/20260509...

Btw, there seems to a cert issue with your site. Lord knows I've had this issue plenty because of the many variations you end up making with subdomains.

Scottish portraitists didn't flatter their sitters. Here are Raeburn (left) and Ramsay (right). Ramsay tended to paint everyone with a underbite, which was particularly hard on the female sitters.

There's also a not made here / funded here perception bias on US capital. It's far easier to get a roll of the dice within the unique concentration of Tech VCs in silicon valley. Getting the right backing compounds that trust. European funding doesn't have the same social capital.

If AI had done nothing but unlock the power of Regular Expressions for use by Joe Bloggs using natural language it would have been incredible in just that. It's like a killer feature 30 years in the making for spreadsheets.

The continued workification of all life! It's a shame, but cvs have always been a point of personal marketing. Perhaps a social expectation of no marketing will develop on Bluesky.
