Agreed. There is a sense of desperation in their actions. Another possible tipping point will be after the midterms. If Trump somehow fakes a GOP win, or loses and says the polls are rigged, things will get hot.

I'd see it more as positioning for the post-Trump. He knows there's going to be a lot happening after the mid-terms. He's already planted one flag saying "Hey! I didn't want this war". This one says "Executions on tv weren't my idea".

It's a populist form of being reactionary. They are certainly taking cues from the concept of "undo the 1960s with its civil rights and women's lib movements and go back to picket fence America". But that doesn't really gel with open corruption and Jan 6 and data centers and trillionaires.
