Public safety is not a tech product. Treating it as such has created an arms race. Markets are great for resource distribution. They regularly fail at coordination problems. That's what governments are for.

Alignment faking is a major issue with current and future models. They become like an employee that says they are working towards the goals of the company, but secretly are doing things to improve their own station.

If the UK can successfully establish the framework for monitoring precursors like compute thresholds, it provides a realistic blueprint for the international agreements we desperately need. Hopefully, MPs recognize the leverage they have right now to lead on this globally.
