Please excuse one other thought. Son asked to go & watch Harrogate Town, at the time non league, as they are again but for two years, free to roam the whole ground watching & it was great to watch; then promoted to Football league, first visit after, I was body searched; it was never the same.

I know what you mean but openers in Div 2 can often face the quality of opening bowlers as found in Div 1; the difference is often found in first change. I had Lehmann in my middle order, if he was in a better batting side I think he would have been seriously challenging for highest run scorer.

We might have to agree to disagree that it’s much easier to recover in Division One. Players they are losing is likely to make Division one very difficult next season. So relegation is a possibility which would make the punishment perhaps more equal? They were docked points in other comps remember.

They lost more than just the points; they were placed in special measures and every signing had to be agreed by the ECB. They as a result lost players and could lose more. Clubs know what’s coming their way which makes this appeal all the more intriguing.

Remember Leicestershire weren’t so much docked 19 pts but as very clearly stated in the playing regs; a team takes 0 pts from a game in which found guilty to have prepared a below average/poor pitch. If they had lost, it might have been 3 points docked. It’s supposed to be an automatic penalty.

The idea that the Discipline Panel were not aware of the match points deduction is beyond acceptable surely. But it leads to me wondering if Leicestershire’s appeal is based on improper process rather than the actual penalty points given? All speculation but it’s a poor look for the game.

I’m trying to understand why when a pitch is marked Poor and therefore below average and the Discipline panel upholds that; How it then gives them back 8 points. All clubs are aware that if a pitch was marked poor or below average they would gain 0 points from that game.

I think this only becomes a story if Leicestershire win at Warwickshire this week, then decide to appeal their penalty. Of course if Yorkshire and the club don't know if anything is to come of last weeks pitch, it will focus their minds to get whatever they can at Trent Bridge to make certain.

Very good question. If you look at the Leicestershire story, the pitch inspection following the Glamorgan game, took place on August 23rd, the charge was laid against Leicestershire over 2 weeks later on September 7th. The amount of information communicated to us on these issues is IMO pathetic.

Agreed and hope more money can be found to invest into the women's county game profile; there's good cricket to watch & it's more than ready for wider audience. Women's 100 got terrestrial TV; youtube is still niche right now, but that is changing. BBC covered tier 2 final yesterday but more to do.

I enjoyed it: good game. Always a good story when a team who haven't won a final like that since the eighties. Not even a section of the Leicestershire supporters spoiled it for me but they may have done for some families who may be thinking perhaps the 100 is the best place to go next year.
