Just rewatched Spectre. Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond. How do those films compare to Ian Fleming?

Should not take 34MM posters on Blue Sky to figure that out.

Simpler problem that it seems. Desktop computer 3500 mp3 files How to make the music talk to the speakers. Amp is all I need. I'll figure it out. That's really all I do as a literary essayist. Figure shit out. Takes me 300 hours and/or 6 months. But shit gets figured out, eventually, reliably.

When I checked the Keith Jarrett ECM recording of the Shostakovich: 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87 I wanted to rip *some* of those files. So, that's my workflow. EAC sounds like a great software program. But I still need a physical drive to rip from. And a desktop amp to drive speakers with.

Clive James, you mean? I have «As of this Writing: The Essential Essays of Clive James, 1968-2002» I bought it for $1. But 619 pages I'd rather spend on Anna Karenina. Thanks for not blocking me. I was drunk. Not your fault.

*jeez* there are so many better Australian artists! Why are people even still *talking* about Cive James?

Robert Hughes is a *much* better Australian writer.

Wall Street was even worse than @lisasass.bsky.social or @afteroctavian.bsky.social may care to imagine. When I express my horror about my son graduating from Harvard people are surprised👎 I *know* what these HYP people look like. It was my *job* to read their resumes.

I just *hated* her voice at first. But she's a great artist. Like Peter Pears. Either you love him or you hate him. Britten is different, right?

Julliard pianist Sir Stephen Hough writes that Debussy and Ravel are chalk and cheese. @afteroctavian.bsky.social or @lisasass.bsky.social may disagree. But many say Ravel was simply a more naturally *gifted* orchestrator. Am less drunk than I once was. My Wharfdales can tell the difference.

Performing Arts - Jazz 11 October 2026 There's a very good reason conservatory-musician types dig Ravel.

At first I thought you were talking about Gregory Rabassa. Am listening to Ravel's "Dawn" from «Daphnis et Chloé». This isn't mere weirdness. This is very low-brow radio broadcasting. This is tote-bag middle-browism. For white people. But it shore sound nice.

Poetry magazine will not pay me my $500 of speaker money unless I can say, with absolute authority: [Letter from Julio Cortázar to Laure Guille-Bataillon dated 20 April 1963, p. 277, «Letters from Julio», Archipelago (2026)] And I can't go shopping in Ladue unless I can back my shit the fuck up.

My Wharfdale speakers and Schiit DAC love them some Shostakovich. Am thinking the Keith Jarrett solo piano music. Or the String Quartets. Not 100% sober, but you gets the idea.

11 October 2026 I can say with absolute authority what I was reading on what day. Am a professional reviewer. Meaning @afteroctavian.bsky.social or @lisasass.bsky.social) can rigorously fact-check my page references. Henry James, «On Writers and Writing», “Mr. and Mrs. James T. Fields”, p. 353

Henry James talks about Zola, which was the only reason I mentioned him. I don't mention writers I myself haven't (yet) read. When readers call my writing "erudite" I cringe.
