Lots of things have happened lately. Kernel Rust is no more an experimental project and has been included in Debian. Binder IPC driver also officially switched to Rust in the kernel #kr2026

p90 review turnaround: 4.0h → 16m for a single patch (14.7h → 29m for a series), between March and September 2026 171k patch reviews across 91 mailing lists, ~36.6k reviews/month, and 18M autonomous git lookups (~105 per review). Every review inspects callers, callees, lock rules and git history

MPTCP: when one path is not enough | Kernel Recipes
Multipath TCP (MPTCP) started to appear in the Linux kernel in the v5.6 version, released in 2020. Before a rewrite to fit Netdev maintainers requirements, this complex protocol was supported in a fork, with millions of users. A lot of changes have been introduced since then.

Kernel Recipes @kernelrecipes.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Some C corner cases : missed return on the error path; kernel structs like struct completion are self-referential, so they must not be moved after initialization; use-after-free through a stale reference. A Handler borrowing a Channel can't outlive it #kr2026

free memory is wasted memory, and so is cold memory. Swapping out cold anonymous folios lets the kernel cache more and do less IO, so everyday things like git log or grep get faster. #kr2026 - Kairui Song
010
Kernel Recipes @kernelrecipes.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Swap's bad reputation was earned, but fast storage and memory compression changed the equation: swapping out cold anonymous pages leaves more room to cache hot data. Poor performance is usually bad eviction, not swap itself.
010
Kernel Recipes @kernelrecipes.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Allocation moves to mandatory 2MB swap clusters, always kept on per-state lists, so allocating becomes a list-head lookup with no global operations and far less lock contention. The scattered per-slot metadata is merged into a single swap table. #kr2026 1/2

Live blog day 2 — Afternoon | Kernel Recipes
Greg wants to talk and LLMs and kernel developers. He starts by saying that somebody owes him a lot of wine. Last year, people were saying that 50 CVEs in the Linux Kernel a week was insane. Nowadays we’re at 33 a day. At least the Linux CVE tooling scales well.

LAVD: From Gaming to Server Fleets — a BPF Scheduler for Cloud, ML, and Edge | Kernel Recipes
scx_lavd is a sched_ext scheduler implemented in BPF — dynamically loadable at runtime without a kernel rebuild. It started in 2024 as a Linux gaming experiment for Valve’s Steam Deck, and has since matured into a serious contender for server workloads.
