Aren't they busy screwing the Capellans, since the FedSuns are taking a break from that?

#Mechtober #battletech Day 8. The Wolf's Dragoons, one of the few mercenary outfits you really don't want deployed against you. The earliest I recall getting through their lore was learning they were comfortable going against a Great House - Kurita. You do not want to fight those sorts of people.

A quartet of BattleMechs painted up as the Wolf's Dragoons. The color is a dull, dark blue with very little highlighting done to them.

I read that to mean "knew and were working together against him, instead of at odds with each other"? So, yeah, the sting relies on the target not grasping he's being set up. (This feels like an obvious statement once you look at it anyway.)

Another classic, not sure if I've already posted this one here.

The image is a six panel black and white comic.

Panel 1 - a girl sits at her desk in front of a computer, looking disheartened. She says, "I dont know if I should post this art, who would even want to see it?"

Panel 2- A new person bursts through the door in the background with a loud BAM

Panel 3- The new person pushes the girl out of the way, smushing her face in the process, while slamming their fist down on the keyboard.

Panel 4- The computer shows that the art has been posted

Panel 5- The person makes direct eye contact with the girl while pushing their finger against their own phone screen

Panel 6- A motion blur is added to the last panel, enhancing the impact of the new notifications on the new post. It reads, "(Friend) Liked Post just now" Followed by "(Friend) commented 'I FUCKING LOVE THIS AND I LOVE U'"

Underneath the last panel is a watermark that reads, Shubbabang

The whole Mountain Wolf series of stories is really quite something. (... how Rusty manages to keep stabbing me in the heart with how he writes is probably why I keep enjoying his work.)

Fringe and Lost are the only two shows out of that era pulling "mystery box" stuff which I actively enjoyed. (Excluding the final season of Fringe, which- look, folks, know when to end your show gracefully. Execs, when the team of a show says they only have story for N seasons, don't force N+1.)

There are many discussions to be had on this, along with "why the hell does everyone use a Discord server and not a forum?!" (especially for tech support questions) and other gnashings of teeth from those who once had an AIM, ICQ, or Y! Messenger handle. Or all three.

Why? Because "that's where the people are at!"... Allegedly. As for why not just use an account and point to your own site, I heard tell (and never verified because I'm not on FB and they LOVE not letting you look in there unless you have an account) they algorithmically punish people who do that.

Heck I don't even think the national grants would help, because the question is then: "Who gets to decide the ones 'worthy' of money?" And as we are seeing in the last two years, that shit can get revoked with frightening speed. :(

Because if you can get a company who has access to the tech and the systems to make it function, and put it in the hands of people who legitimately do not care about curtailing abuse from certain people in society (even, ESPECIALLY, if it's good-intentioned)... that's some spicy potential drama.

The rest of the thread talks about there being regulatory authorities... but those authorities are always a number of personnel changes away from becoming compromised in one fashion or another. It's almost not the gun lobby danger, as much as a Near Earth Asteroid able/ready to end civilization.

110

Kereminde @kereminde.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

"to the gun lobby" I'm thinking a wee bit of a bigger potential problem, pun not intended. Now this is raising the question of how well laws are established with size-changing in mind. Especially forced/NC size changes. One would think the potential for such abuse would be a hot topic of debate.

1 October - Classic Battletech #Battletech #Mechtober I played a campaign with my brother, and while we learned a lot about how NOT to do things? We had a lot of fun. This scenario was a Lyran batallion facing down a reinforced company of mercenaries belonging to my brother. Lots of broken 'Mechs.

A game of Classic BattleTech laid out on a table with far too many miniatures and a lot of open space.

The fourth turn of the scenario in progress, with the white cotton balls marking units which were either destroyed or crippled that turn.
