My 12th grader at a big public school says they sometimes say it over the intercom to mixed participation. My 9th grader is at a charter school and they don’t do it at all.

It appears to be a 1958 Packard wagon, this photo is from the internet but shows how it looks from the front. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these before.

Absolute unit cruising the streets of St. Paul today.
A 1958 Packard station wagon on a busy street, it’s two-tone orange and white with big tail fins.

It's worth remembering that the stove is the only gas appliance that will still work if the electricity is out.

Seems like someone could come up with a good metaphor for this sort of improvised, temporary repair.

Today I’ve also learned that you can get rice noodles branded with Twin Cities freeway signs.

Local Trader Joe’s remodeled to widen the aisles but flow hasn’t really improved because people are just finding new and creative ways to take up more space. Someone should study this.

I don't know what the person in the comment Peter's referencing is responding to but she's saying something that we can probably all agree with, that transit in the U.S. is an arduous and time-consuming option for most trips that aren't to/from a city center.

I think that's a misconception - in most U.S. cities, the areas where car-free or car-lite is a practical choice are scarce and most people are priced out of them. There are people that want to rely less on cars but the barriers are real. I'm a die-hard cyclist and *I* find it impossible sometimes.

Not just a widespread belief but a foundational principle of every state DOT in the country. I've been told multiple times that minor tweaks for pedestrian safety/convenience can't be done because they'd delay drivers and make them upset.

A lot of them are lease returns from when the tax credits were still in effect so there’s high supply. There’s more in the latter half of this story: www.canarymedia.com/articles/ele...

Used EVs are a bargain right now — and buyers are noticing
New EV sales may be falling, but used models are more plentiful and cheaper than they’ve ever been. That’s a big opportunity as gas prices surge.

I like cheap/simple so I have an old Rockhopper with studded tires and fenders, break it down every spring to clean/lube and treat rust as needed. It's set up 1x7 with a friction shifter, if I lived in a flatter part of town I'd probably go single-speed.

Check out dealerships in WI - they have fairly rigorous inspection/disclosure laws and MN does not. We found a used Mazda last fall at the Chevy dealer in Amery for about $2k less than we’d have paid in the city. Salesman knew the family who’d owned it.
