I was in Cuba a few months ago, meeting a young vital society of artists, musicians, journalists and environmentalists. Hey, everyone’s different. Irritating? O you bet. Paquin’s charactr sure created difficulties 4 people, she was inconsistent, moody & embodied many contradictions. Her acting compelled me bc she seemed so driven by her own sublimated guilt. Also impressed w Lonergan’s rendering of post 9-11 NYC.

It is a terrific film. I understand lawsuits over getting it edited delayed release for years, but it’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen. Portrait of the clash of an adolescent’s emerging moral sense with the messy complicated compromised real world, set in post 9-11 NYC. Superb script & acting
