I’ve never had a problem with telling anyone I have ADHD. On the other hand, I still remember getting Bs on papers that were far better than students who got As, because “they don’t have your potential”, which just led to me not turning in assignments because whats the point?

Maybe it’s my ADHD, but I don’t really like everything being tinted yellow with warm white bulbs.

I was testing some new OS features to demo for an upcoming presentation, one of them being voice control of the mouse using a grid based system that divided the screen into nine bits, then subdivided the one you chose into nine more until you said click. My officemate nearly killed me.

I liked 4th for pick up groups where you’d meet four to six random folks in the local game shop and run a game for them, but 5th was better for a group that played through a full campaign. Haven’t played in a while so don’t know how the latest updates have gone.

If it’s the guy who points at stuff with an extendable pointer with a little gloved hand pointing a finger, I get those too. My favorite is the improperly grounded wiring connected to plumbing, which has happened multiple times.

He was 84? Sorry, I only made it to the literally the 2nd sentence, as instructed, and as limited by my short attention span.

I remember a while ago when someone announced the world’s first non-rectangular pitch. Obviously they hadn’t been paying attention to volunteer-lined youth groups, but they did have some neat designs.
An aerial view of a trapezoidal soccer fieldAn aerial view of a soccer field bent in the middle at a right angleAn aerial view of a soccer field that is shifted near the midpoint so that the goals aren’t directly across from each other

It doesn’t say by how much, though, so 90x90.000001 would work. Tell the ref you measured it and they can double check.

As someone who bikes to work, not having to carry a bunch of stuff back and forth makes things way easier to come into the office. If they aren’t paying for enough desks for everyone they require to come in, the least they could do is spring for some extra lockers.

When I have to go to the shops, my preference would be a completely empty store and a self-checkout register allowing me to speak to no one and obtain the items I need.

You did start by calling him wrong in a patronizing way. If you were looking for a good-faith discussion, you could have worded it in a way that didn't look like you were being dismissive.

I've had conversations with people about them if they are actually interesting. One of the facts I use is that my family tree can be traced all the way up to a Norse god. Someone on the team let me know she could be traced to an Egyption Pharaoh. Most of the facts aren't interesting, though.

That makes sense. I think I wash them more often with gloves because they act as a reminder that I'm dealing with stuff that requires cleanliness. Have definitely seen people put on gloves, immediately touch their nose and face, then go straight to work on meal prep since gloves = clean.

Is it not good to wash your hands with gloves on? I do food prep where I'll touch raw meat and swap gloves at the same time I swap the cutting board to avoid cross-contamination but will wash my hands if needed.

I would bring my own keyboard and mouse to the desk when I worked in a hot desk situation. The place had lockers where you could store that sort of thing so I didn't have to carry them with me all the time.

The frustration I get from coming back to the U.S. and struggling to open a bag after spending time in Japan where this has been solved for decades. And it’s on American products, so you know someone up the supply chain stateside has seen it and still wants us to suffer.

Some days I’m up for chopping sausage, onions, and peppers, sometimes I can only do the beans and cheese in a tortilla, but having four or five variants lets me have the canned stuff in the cupboard, buy the fresh ingredients, and make something better than frozen chicken nuggets again.

Canned tomatoes, black beans, ground meat or sausage, spices, cheese Can vary the spices, add fresh onion peppers, or other veggies, eat in a tortilla, with chips, or add dried pasta and it will cook with the rest of it. youtube.com/shorts/T1yfT... youtube.com/shorts/icQDS...

I’ve had too many situations where the cashier messes something up and I can correct it before I tap my card. Having them run through my entire cart a second time or call over a manager isn’t worth saving a few seconds. It bugs me when people wait to the end to dig for their phone or card, though.

I’d rather be able to remember people’s names, but after knowing people for years and every few weeks stopping mid-sentence before asking them their name or opening my phone so I can look up their name in my contacts list, at least they know it’s not for lack of trying.

Loud ecstatic quitting happens at the end of quiet quitting. You quiet quit for as long as you can get away while stockpiling glitter and other props for the main event.

Why not go for the universities and make them free, cut out the loans altogether? Might end up with a lot more folks with degrees, but I’m sure society would figure something out.

It helped me pick up some vocab, but in the same way a word of the day calendar would have. I couldn’t really stick with apps like wanikani, either, though they helped short-term. Twenty-five years and I’m still reading at a second grade level.

As “that kid” it was interesting to see which teachers were okay with me just standing silently and which ones asserted their authority and sent me to the principal’s office for refusing before allowing me to stand silently.

I speak some Japanese. In Japan, I can start a conversation in Japanese by saying, “I only speak a little Japanese” and I usually get a reply I don’t understand. If I start in English then switch, I get a response I can understand. The more polite I am, the less I can understand their reply.

I read that one but didn’t really grasp the reality of it as a kid. I don’t know what the right time to introduce kids to this sort of thing is to make them come out empathetic to others and not just introduce unnecessary trauma. Every Japanese person I talked to says the elephant book was trauma.

My wife told me that she had to read a book about elephants in the zoo in Japan during the war, and just her description of the book took me out for a while. I don’t think I can even read the Wikipedia article, and I definitely can’t watch Grave of the Fireflies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithfu...

Oh, looks like that was unique to the European version. I read up on it and they did in fact have special unlocks for certain discs. This whole time I thought it was coincidence that lead to rumors. Final Doom PAL was supposed to give you a ghost, but it’s hard to find details.

I’m pretty good at following recipes. It took me a while to get good at picking recipes that would work. What I’m starting to get good at, finally, is modifying recipes to suit tastes or available ingredients. Eventually I’ll get to the point where I can work without recipes at all.

They got to listen to my stuff until they could make requests, then we took turns. As they got older, I learned about so many artists from my kids (mostly my daughter) by letting them connect their phone to the car audio. I didn’t like all their choices, but they got to play whatever they wanted.

Just thought of some arch words and how I’d pronounce them if I wasn’t thinking about it. Like Ark: Archwizard Archdruid Archdiocese Archangel Architect Like Arch: Archbishop Archchancellor Archdeacon Archdemon Archnemesis Archenemy Archer

I pronounce them differently by themselves, but was corrected when I pronounced archnemesis and archangel with the ch sound. Is it pronounced that way in British English?

Tabletop fire pits that refuel by pouring rubbing alcohol in bowl where the fire was just burning are dangerous. This Labor Day weekend, throw these away. Show anyone who has one this video.

It’s for the same reason some players wear shorter socks with small shin guards. When your calf muscles get overdeveloped, your socks can be overly constricting and prevent proper blood flow. Short socks or a few holes relive the pressure. Could be mental, but much of the sport is.

There are so many great things about them getting older, but that doesn’t mean I don’t wish they were five again sometimes.
